Glad to see Pats fan accepting "rules are rules" concept - not what the club claimed in 2002 !

Well some always did. I know we got shafted in 2002 (not everything came out in the public domain), and despite these posts I'd hate to see Bohs lose the league for off field admin errors.

On the other hand the Shelegation made me laugh solidly for 3 days.

What goes around........? Cant see the FAI looking too hard as this if for no other reason than the league needs more controversy like a hole in the head. Expect tighter regulation in the future (and probobly rightly ) but a "blind eye" to things retrospectively (after all that is their forte :))

Hope we have moved on from the Ollie Byrnesque carry on of 2002

I'm pretty sure there was a case in England where a player played for a club while in jail; he was tagged and released for match days.

Not sure if anyone's managed to play for a club while deported though...

Arrah, we've had several of those down the years. They weren't coming from jail, mind you.

jermaine pennant

Pennant did indeed play with an electronic tag but I think that was after he was released (early) from prison. One the release conditions was that he wear the tag for the duration of the original sentence.

There was talk of tagging Tony Kelly (superman) when he played withThe Rovers so that they would know what pub to pull him out of for the match.

Ya. But then they realised there was no need as Jimmy Mullen was bound to be with him in the the pub anyway.

Comedy gold from Paul Cook yesterday saying Ndo would've got more money with us but he chose Sligo instead. Looks like the chip most Sligo fans have on their shoulders re us has finally infected him also. I'm sure, seeing as Ndo was only offered a pay as you play deal with us, even the most anti Hoop among the Sligo breathern will realise Cook's spoofing big time.

No! I don't accept he was spoofing!

Hopefully this doesn't sound as though I'm belittling Sligo because that's not my intention, but if he was offered more by us, added to the fact that everyone assumed at the start of the season the league would be between us and Bohs(so I assume he would as well), why would he want to go to Sligo instead? Honestly, he'll be getting a very decent sum of money from Sligo and after a few games will get a mysterious injury and sit on the bench as happy as Larry.

You don't have to add that bit at all. And to be honest, it doesn't come into it for the majority of players in our league (or anywhere really). if he was offered €20 a week more by Shamrock (same terms etc), he'd have signed for them instead of Sligo. same could be said for any clubs.

Just worth pointing out also that it's not exactly unheard of for players to be telling porkies about what they were/are being offered by other clubs to play one off against the other. Cook may have been told a figure by Ndo that Rovers were offering, he may have said "I can't match that but I can go to x.." and x may well be higher than what Rovers were really offering him. He then believes Ndo has signed for less than Rovers offered him. He'd be a bit naive but it's not impossible.

Agree with you, Cretaro spent several weeks doing this to a few clubs before signing Bohs.

why would he want to go to Sligo instead?

It could be for any number of reasons:

- He's a big surfing fan and wants to catch some tubes in Easkey.

- He's Westlife's number one fan and wants to see where they grew up.

- He wants to build a small cabin of clay and wattles on Innisfree.

I'm sure he was going to sign for Dundalkkk, but Ian Foster said that 'X club' offered him more money and Dundalkkk just couldn't compete!

He was actually offered more money by Shams but he realised that he would actually be paid by Sligo Rovers.

Without knowing the offers on the table from both clubs it is impossible to know if Cook was spoofing, can't see why he would to be honest. Not especialy bothered but it would not be the first time shams fan over exaggerated the "appeal" of the club. Joseph does however have a history of following the buck (nothing wrong with that as it is his living) and I think he was living in tallaght so a move to shams would appear to make sense.
