Wexford will have been pleased to take the three points against Devon today after playing the last hallf-hour with ten men in breezy Ferrycarrig. Wexford started at nearly full strength with Packie, Anto, Breener, Wolfie, Warren, Jimmy, Patsy, Shane, Dean and Danny and Gary up front. Wexford played with the wind in the first half and immediately dominated a young small Devon side with Patsy and Shane lording it in midfield and trying to release Gary and Danny at every opportunity. It was no surprise when the Youths went in front when Breener rose unchallenged to nod home Dean's corner. However, two things changed the match. Firstly, out of the blue, Devon equalised when Youths couldn't clear a corner and Charlie Burke lobbed home their first league goal into the far corner. Then Shane, who got a knock to the head went off with Chris Kenny coming on. Devon were buoyed by the goal and match remained reasonably equal to half-time. One-one and Wexford got caught far too much going off-side in the half.

Wexford played into the wind in the second half and got caught on a break by Devon from a Youths corner when a slick passing move down the pitch by Devon found their forward in free space when he was caught from behind by Breener who got a straight red. Packie made a good save from the freekick and Jimmy K. went into midfield with Danny playing up on his own. Devon tried hard to get a second but Packie made two good saves (routine for him) and looked very safe under the high ball as well. Wexford then went ahead with a class goal when Patsy, who
had a stormer won the ball round half-way on the left, drove forward and hit in a low cross with the outside of the right boot and found Danny who tucked it away as you know he can when he gets the right ball. Devon then pushed again with their extra man for the equaliser and Packie made a great save when a bouncing ball found a Devon forward free. Right on the blow, Gary got two chance to latch on to two long clearances but couldn't convert either in enjoyable half.
Overall a good game with Patsy and Packie outstanding while Wolfie did well after Breener had gone off. Two late subs. for Wexford were Lee Aust and Aidan McCann. Devon played some neat football at times but haven't got used to the physical demands as yet. Disappointing crowd at about 150.

great to see Danny get a goal hopefully more to come and all the players seemed delighted for him showed some spirit when playing with ten men. Created chances playing the ball out wide a bit more thought Jimmy looked a lot better more creative in the middle than he does not wide
