Cracking interview alright, fair play to Eamonn for doing it The manager speak is a welcome addition so far as well. I would have to pull up Mr Kenny on a couple of inaccuracies though, we never actually led the Premier Division, we could have gone top if we had beaten Finn Harps in December I think but we could only manage a draw, and this one is being pedantic but we beat Cork 4-1 not 4-0 and I'm pretty sure that was after the Lovech home game?. Though I'm open to correction on that as I was away that summer.

Stonewall penalty. Long ball doesn't work often enough, and the quality of them aren't good enough. Stupid mistakes are bad performances. No one will remember tomorrow how well we played, they'll always remember the scoreline. Good performances won't get us anywhere if we are making the mistakes. I think that Glynn is the man to help us. He will score if he is given the service.
Watching the game in the first half, just one little I noticed, McDonagh was always free over the right wing. Glynn was the first one after about a half hour to pass it out to him. That lead to the penalty shout IIRC.

mcdonagh was free but never called for it he stood were he wasnt going to be passes to?

Not the way I saw it. The first time it was given out to him, it lead to a proper goal scoring opportunity; so much so, they had to foul our player. This of idea of him not calling for it is no excuse. I'm sure he wants it, even if he doesn't shout for it! Glynn was the first to look up and pass it... If he wasn't shouting, he should have been.

What was Shanahan's idea of playing 25 yards away from goal for the first half?

His positioning needs work too. First goal was his fault, I was screaming at him to go back on the line!

meh.. he was fine were he was standing he closed down the striker giving him less to aim at it was a very good finish..but he didn't stand tall he kind of crouched down?? needed to make himself big.. y was there no one at the edge of the box thou to pick the man up!? schoolboy error the towns u14 girls team wouldn't do that

I thought Shanahan had one of his worst games for us.. his positional play was absymal and kicking crap... I suppose thats what happens when the competition for goalie isnt the best with Conlon being reserve..

there wasnt much he could do for the goals tbh but defiunitly agree with his kicking but he was very good at co9ming for the ball and helping the defence

The first goal was his fault. 100%. He should have went back to his line. Had absolutely no business going where he went.

I realy don't understand why we constantly have to watch so much long ball when a blind man can see that Hynes won't or can't head a ball and Glynn needs the ball to his feet to have any sort of chance ! Time for a change of playing style and Hynes needs to be dropped for a few games to sharpen up and work on what his roll in the team should be, he should be winning the ball for Glynn to work off him and score or ty to at least. Ekanem needs to be dropped also in my opinion as he does not look like he is ready for LOI football yet. On saturday he was doing hell of a lot of ball watching and was pulled inside to the centerhalf position way to many times leaving the Dery #11 fre on way to many occasions.

I thought the only real difference on Saturday night was that we took our chances, and partly due to Doherty's brilliance and partly due to wastefulness, you didn't.

I don't think either sides defence is anywhere near good enough to go up.

Don't think anyone here is expecting to be challenging for promotion to be honest but if we can sort out the defence a top half finish would be an improvement.

He was totally wrong. The place he went to is more commonly known as No Mans Land. If he went back to his line where he should have been, he would have been able to save it with his mickey.

Not to mention there would have been more defenders close to him to block down his shot as a few had to track back onto the line

Exactly, if Shanahan went back onto his line there wouldn't have been a mix'em gather'em type situation where defenders were defending the line instead of the box, and the keeper trying to defend the penalty area instead of the line.

close down the shooter thats what good keepers do.. if he went backwards there he had no hope of saving the shot closing the striker down make him make a decision the defenders should have charged out at him!!!! savable thou as i said

as a defender it would be mental to see your keeper running like mad ahead of you... they were shocked. 100% the keepers fault!

he closed down the angle nothin more than he could do there, if you wanna pick a fault it would be with the cross he could have dealt with it better, infairness it was a good finish he couldnt put it any where else. There are plenty of faults with that goal as a team not just the keeper, why was he unmarked on the edge of the box? why was he not closed down quicker by a midfielder or defender, he got far too much space and time. Its done now we learn and improve on it and move on
