Celtic have parted company with manager Tony Mowbray following Wednesday's 4-0 defeat at St Mirren.

Mowbray won 17 of the 30 league games played since he arrived from West Brom last June and struggled in Europe.

And the Glasgow club trail Scottish Premier League leaders Rangers by 10 points, having played two more matches than their Old Firm rivals.

I know there's a SPL thread around here somewhere - maybe mods feel this doesn't need its own thread, or maybe it can be left for a few days.

Anyhow, this isn't a huge surprise given their form. I guess the drubbing at St. Mirren was just the last straw. Seems like Strachan got out at the right time though.

Don't know about that. Strachan got the best out of limited players and played to Celtic's strengths. They were competitive anyway, dominating Scotland and performing incredibly well in Europe. I'm sure if he stayed they'd be fighting strongly for the Championship at least. Mowbray must be sick though as he had a great chance of delivering the Scottish Cup, although he'd have scarcely deserved to finish the season on a high they've been such a shambles. Hopefully they can win it for Keane's sake anyway.
