It's likely an exploit. Take a screenshot if you want a proper answer; in the meantime google "online virus scan", pick one of the first results, and run it.

I had a similar thing happen to me. A program called superantispyware seems to have sorted it out: http://www.superantispyware.com/
Spybot S&D is another decent free one : http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
You're probably safer downloading it onto a USB key on another machine, and then installing it from there. Some viruses do nasty things when you try and download antivirus software through a browser.
Good luck!

I had something similar a couple of months ago. The instructions here (http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Malware-Spyware-Cleaning-Guide-t2852.html) worked a treat.

Just for record purposes,if you get the personal security virus (as posted above by dahamsta) I used this http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
to get rid of it.
I downloaded the free version in safe mode and initially it seemed not to work as the personal security thing popped back up when i turned it back on after installing the malware but I switched user names on the PC for a few days and when I logged back in to the "compromised" user the virus had gone.Maybe there's some traces still left but nothing I can see for now.
Thanks to anybody who posted on the thread.
