Absolutley fantastic start to the season for us. Was a hard fought battle in the end last night.

We dominated the first half totaly. Doherty had to claw a free kick from John Kearney out of the top corner before he got down to cut out a few drilled balls across the 6 yard box. Our goal was one of some fine build up play. 3/4 passes on the right side before Vinny was released, only to hit the butt of the post. Thankfully MOTM Liam Kearney was on hand to bundled it over the line under pressure.

Second half, Derry came at us and had one or two half chances including a cross that nearly snuck in at the back post only for Konopka to tip wide. With all the Derry pressure we were pinned back on our own box for 10 minutes and couldn't get a hold of it. Should of made it 2 nil when David Grincell was all on his own 8 yards out only to miss control the ball at the crucial moment.

Bohs fans on their forum saying that how last nights match unfolded is why they would not like to see video technology used in football, enough said.

heres the solitary post in context.

You sometimes wonder why you bother and then the second half of tonights game happens. F-ing unbelievable.

The ref was totally f-ing inept but he was part of the drama and his ineptitude probably made the game what it was. The way this game unfolded was probably why I would never like to see extensive video evidence in football.

3-0 flattered us tonight, UCD played some nice football and dominated the game for about 20 minutes in the second half but they didnt make any clear cut chances, Players worked very hard for us again tonight, It really is great to see because last year was so depressing, We Are Top of The League!!!

pretty much summed it up, when stuey byrne got takin off, changed the game for me, ucd had more of the ball after that, but didnt create anything from it, game should have been over at half time imo, the amount of chances we had, the ucd keeper was abit dodgy at times.

3 great goals, wasnt expecting that from a game against ucd :p
we are top of the league!!!! :D

Thikn it was the opposit. Byrne was brought off for Sinnott as we needed legs in midfield. UCD's quick passing was starting to make inroads

He was gesturing to the bench before he was taken off, so I think it was more a case of fatigue/injury... hopefully not injury. But yeah, you're right in that UCD definitely had more intent with their passing game in the second half - it accelerated with the substitution of Byrne, though. Took us a while to regain our stride, but overall a very competent performance.

I love the way Jason Byrne jumped up onto the railings when he scored and didnt get booked for that, a handful of Bohs idiots jumped over the railings onto the pitch cause of it. Ref was SHOCKING!

Bermo ran over to the crowd after his goal on tuesday didnt get booked then a minute later Faherty did the exact same celebrationa didnt get booked, LOI refs at their best

Because players have been sent off? God forbid referees sending players off.

If they were deserved I don't see what the problem is. I don't know if they were or not as I haven't seen any of the incidents, like yourself I'd imagine, so I can't understand how you could be in a position to judge without seeing them.

No, he was at the Drogs v Bohs game in fairness to him and wasn't just referring to sendings off.

Doyle.

I was at the game with a couple of other lads and my god, ref was shocking, linesmen where shocking and quite frankly the Drogs where robbed. Joe Kendrick got a second yellow for a handball which was hit right in front of him and he covered his face from being smashed by the ball. Bohs 4th goal, 2 players where offside, Keegan went in with a few dodgy tackles and should have got a few bookins. Bohs player pushed the ref for giving the pen and he only got booked. Fenlon kept encroachign onto the pitch and nothing was said at all.

If you saw my earlier posts you will have seen that I was at the Drgos Bohs game last night and Joe Kendrick was harshly sent off, I havnt seen any others but from reading match reports, it seems as though EVERY ref had a shocking night!!!!!!!!!!!

I was actually aware that you were at the game but just worded by post wrong, apologies. My post still stands, you didn't see all 7 incidents so you are not in a position to comment on them. Match reports and fora are useless, the average poster (on this site anyway) is pure retarded so until MNS is shown on Monday I can't see how people are in a position to comment on incidents they didn't see.

Don't see the relevance of this to the sending offs but just to humour you...

I've been at one game so far this season, Pats vs UCD last night, and didn't notice anything about the referee's (Alan Kelly) performance, positive or negative, so from what I've seen I have been happy with the standard so far this season.

Thats cause Kelly is "supposedly" the best in the league! And I emphasise "supposedly". Did you see the TV game on week one or last week, performances where terrible, lads on MNS slated them in most of the games, alot of red this weekend again, they will probably be slating them this Monday and it seems to be a regular trend the past 2 seasons abnout inconsistancy and blunders galore. I never once said that all reds this weekend where not actual reds, I said that the standard is a joke and going by the game I saw last night, it does not look good at all for the rest of the season.

I was actually following on from the specific incidents that I witnessed last night trying to state that there is a recurring trend of idiotic decisions happening but if you want I'll move it to the MNS thread as they will be bitching about them too come Monday?! I'll leave it that but you know that fans from every club will be saying similar things on their own forums regarding their own fixtures this weekend.

As for the rest of your post (again don't see the relevance to this weekend's red cards)- no I didn't see any of the TV games, the only game I've seen is Pats-UCD last night. I saw the first MNS of the season, only point of refereeing that was brought up was the penalty given to Bohs against Fingal. Obviously an incorrect decision but not one you would not see in other leagues and certainly a decision, whilst incorrect, that you can see how the referee gave it. That one poor decision isn't going to override every single other thing the ref has done. Mistakes happen all the time, in all leagues by referees. In fact, mistakes happen in every walk of life, in every type of job. Refereeing is quite a difficult job, it's no surprise that there mistakes often enough but the vast majority of decisions are correct which gets ignored.

Nevertheless, the point I'm making (which seems lost on you in your back-tracking rants) is that perhaps it would be best to judge the decisions of referees once you are in a position to judge them, i.e. after you've seen the incidents. There's no point going off on an ill-informed rant without even having a clue what happened with most of the sending offs.

Actually if you go and look at it, they mentioned the whole two footed stamp Paul keegan was very lucky to get away with. I havn't seen it since the Monday night it was on but I will have to go back and view it to pick up on their reporting about the poor decisions. My point overall is they are getting so many decisions wrong and does this weekend not sum it up again.

Both sendings off were justified in the Athlone Match. The first one was for a badly mis-timed tackle that send a Cork player into orbit and the second one was last man back and it looked like the Cork player would have scored. Athlone were lucky to hang on in the end.
