The FAI recently established a League of Ireland Review Group to over-see a wide ranging review into the professional game in Ireland.

The Review Group looked at all aspects of the League of Ireland and underwent extensive consultation with all stakeholders in the league - players, managers, club officials, sponsors, supporters and media.

Recently, the Review Group reported back on their findings. You can read an executive summary of the report here: http://www.airtricityleague.com/images/stories/Executive_Summary_LoI_Report_Jan_2010.pdfSeems like a lot of stating the bleedin obvious to me

I'm one of the optimists that believe we can provide a full time league only if the FAI really want one (which I have doubts about). However, reading Mr.Fannings piece in the Indo yesterday, about how Everton should be viewed as the Irish peoples club simply made me wonder are we really so sad in this country ?

They hit on the key point a fair few times; that the League of Ireland has to be seen as something to aspire to by players, coaches, referees and clubs at all levels, it should represent the pinnacle of footballing acheivement in the country rather than being viewed by many junior clubs as competiton for players and a dumping ground for failed pros and deluded fans.
