Just discussing the new manager at C.C.F.C. and was wondering is Tommy Dunne related to Richard Dunne by any chance? I'm sure I read that somewhere before but I am just posting for clarification.

First cousin, I think.
Tommy's father is former UCD coach Theo Dunne, who is Richie's uncle.
I think.

Yep.
Also played one game for UCD in a friendly when he was assistant manager under Doolin.
Not sure he's a great appointment for Cork, incidentally, but we'll wait and see I suppose.

Thanks for the replies, wasn't 100% certian but the posts above seem to reflect what I had read before.
Are any of those guys related to Father Been Dunne with the hairy back that burned down the church in Monaghan?

At such short notice its a good appointment. We needed someone by today, and someone with the correct qualifications.
Tommy worked with the players last year and in this pre season. More importantly, he knows the young players, the ones we will need to build a team around.
I'm happy with the decision, whether it proves to be the correct one we cannot say right now. That will depend on his ability to put a team together in a short space of time and under a tight budget.

Intrude away my friend, but as far as I am concerned C.C.F.C. has risen from the ashes.
It's reported that Elvis died in 1977 .....but then again did he?
The original performer may be gone but the music will still live on.
Getting back to the topic at hand, I'm happy with Dunne's appointment. Judging by interviews with the players over the last year, he seems to be a good coach and seemed to receive more plaudits than Doolin.

Just playing Devil's Advocate as I've no knowledge of him one way or another but sometimes a top coach doesn't make a successful manager. Aaron Callaghan is a coach who stands comparison to anyone in the country, any players he's coached would tell the same story but just didnt make a successful manager either here or in Athlone.
I'm happy with Tommy Dunne being appointed manager. Think he'll do a decent job for us .

Maybe so, but Tommy Dunne deserves a chance and we won't write him off just yet.

If he doesnt set the world on fire hes only got a one year contract.
