Sligo Rovers will play their final pre-season friendly of 2010 this coming Sunday, 28th February, as they travel to Enniscrone to take on Kilglass-Enniscrone United in Michael McGowan Memorial Park. This will be Rovers supporters last chance to see Rovers in action before their opening home league game against Shamrock Rovers the following week.
The game is in aid of North West Hospice with all donations welcome. There is no set charge into game so supporters can donate whatever they see fit. Kick-off is at 1 o’clock and there will be refreshments served afterwards in the Ocean Sands Hotel, Enniscrone.

Proper order - it's hard trying to keep your eye on the ball and avoid spilling your pint at the same time. Wait till the final whistle.

I haven't been up at Micky McGowan park in years but it's a great pitch. Great views. Situated on a hill- on a clear day you can see Mayo, Sligo obviously and Donegal from the pitch. Well worth a look. However, the weather will probably be sh*te on Sunday. Delighted about Almeida by the way.

Rovers lost 3-0, Super Jay and Steve Feeney played along with a-players. I wouldnt take to much from the game because there was alot of new players
Told you the Easkey boys would kick the s hit e out of them.

gv1298, Kilglass/Enniscrone have a few good players, that's good enough for junior football.
The Rovers team on Sun was made up of U19 and their "A" team and were very dissapointing, there were 1 or 2 young lads that could make it in the airtricity league but the older lads were poor.
The closest Rovers came to scoring was hitting the post late in the game.
A lot of people were dissapointed by the Rovers performance.
Well done to KEUFC they were by far the best team.

Fair enough CF, if there are 40 players signed they have to play sometime.
I hope some of those lads don't get embarresed in the A league.
The down side is imo, Sligo Rovers should be putting on a show when playing the likes of Kilglass, making a statement, saying this is what we can do, come to the Showgrounds and we'll entertain you and your kids, i'm afraid Sunday had the opposite effect.

firstly on the whole rovers a team from talking to people at home they were mad at the disrespect that was shown to kilglass junior side.they taught this fixture was to encourage people from west sligo and ballina north mayo region to show them how good sligo rovers can be. i cant see many from this area going to showgrounds anytime soon.
from the kilglass team point of view they have a very good youth setup in place 2 of the sligo rovers u20s are from that setup paul sweeney and keith duffy. this is also were darragh tuffy came threw the ranks. its a pity the other lads didnt wait with kilglass and get them to super league because from what i hear sligo rovers u20s wont be wining anything soon.

.
If they wanted to see how good Rovers can be they should have been in the Showgrounds the night before

yes thats true. but to be fair people might not have been able to make the night before. people werent expecting a full team. just 5 or 6 guys that didnt play the night before. its a shame alot of people were disapointed from what i heard.

I dont know how good or bad either was as i havnt seen either play recently, but i thinks its commendable on SRFC's part to be making an attempt to be seen in community areas. I know of a few lads out that direction who bought the 20eur tickets for Clifftonville and Shamrock games on back of it too.
Im sure its given the Rovers lads involved a wee kick up backside and wont do enniscrone any harm either. They have done a great job up there and pitch & facilities are a credit to them.
I was in Roscommon the other weekend and my little cousin told me Rovers had visited his school last year. Cook & players that went up seem to have made a good impression on them..They claim to look out for results and have taken an interest since the visit..School would be good hour and half drive from Showgies and in real Gaa country!..But I thought it was great to hear.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained

Kilglass seem to have a good youth structure in place, however you can't blame players for moving to what should be a steping stone to better things. I'm sure Kilglass got looked after regarding D Tuffy?
As for playing super league I think it will take more than the 2 u20 players to improve Kilglass junior teams fortunes.
