I think you better add Swinford & Ballyheane to that list for managers. Noises are not good coming from Ballyheane with a few players about to walk.

id say everyone just taking a beak from foot for a while. waitin for pre-season friendlies before making predictions on how they will do.
training was tough for the boro this morning. few players short this year(amd im not talking about the GRIFFIN :p), going to be a long hard season especially with 4 going down. all new players welcome - training again 7 bells thursday in milebush :D
season startin in April season from what we have been told.

I take it back apparently one of the Donnellys is coming back to take over and no players are leaving, well that is what one of their players was saying last night.

No worries ill let you away this time ;)
Jamie Carr has come on board. Good addition but need to get the Cider outta him. Wally and Gavin are a loss but certainly not irreplaceable. We'd rather have 11 middling lads that want to play for SNUGBORO and will give 100% The lads we lost obviously dont care about the club so whats the use in crying over them!!

early days i no to start really taking about the SL, with 4 teams goin down it should make this year more interesting, every game will be like a cup final to get the 3points and not get dragged into the bottom 4, the first couple of games could be very important. you could be lookin at celtic, s&f, fahy, swinford and the boro maybe the heane to be in the scrap to stay up. gettin out of the premier the following year wont be an easy task.

Fair play to them, 2 new clubs is what the league needs, lose a few B teams and add a few new teams. That makes the Mayo League better.

What are you on about with facilities? Always a negative

If you have been around some of the lower league clubs you will know what I mean. The league have rules about standards yet they are not enforced. Ballyhaunis never had dressing rooms so where will they magic them out of all of a sudden. There are plenty of clubs who get away with murder regarding facilities. Urlar, Holister, are good examples and charlestown and Achill are no saints either. Im only saying this because its not fair on clubs who put in an effort to better themselfs and others get away with murder.
On another note where is the pitch planned for in Fahy? Its hardly the little area across from the school is it?

I read in this week's Mayo News that The Gray one could be heading back to Mayo to manage Ballyheane. Who does this serve best? Ballyheane or The Gray one, May be we will get an offical reply from Ballyheane, to clear up what appeared in the Mayo News.

Whos he going to manage. Word on the street is there are hardly any players left for the super league side. I was told that even Greg Flynn had signed for Partry.

sounds like there's a few SL teams goin through a bad patch, ballyheane, s&f and the boro all having problems getting players out. why?? is the interest gone for alot of these players? with the league starting in only a few weeks and 4 teams goin down, it mite not have to be the likes of swinford and fahy that have to be careful of the drop.

Westport
Ballina
Erris
[GAP]
S&F
Manulla
[GAP]
Fahy
Ballyheane
Snugboro
Swinford
Celtic

This is the way my heart and head say the league will go this year. Expect Westport to fight back and win it this year, expect it to be very tight between the teams at the bottom. Usual mid table for Manulla and S & F might be strong enough to join them there. Hopefully it throws up a few more surprises and is more competitive as a league than last year

Sn'F have no problem gettin players out... we have been playing all year after all good run in fai and in to 1/4 finals of connaught cup so if some weeks numbers are low that is purely the reason for it playing non stop all year, i think manager has to be given credit for keeping players going, and interested some weeks taking a rest between rounds of games them putting in good sessions when fixtures are comming up.... interest wasnt what it was 3 years ago in every club in mayo league because of a number of reasons, when is your season starting theboy?? ya have good competition for centre mid there with stevie gavin signed... still i suppose keep ya on your toes..!!

Jesus thats a bit rough, did he not play nice against you:). He would be considered by the Heane lads one of the best to have played for them, maybe not one of the sanest however. Also I think most of the Heane lads are capable of the odd fine.

you mean will it be a two horse race again... westport took their foot off the gas last year can they get back to their best again, and can Ballina keep their feet on the ground in order to defend their title by the sounds of them celebrating beating Shamrock Rovers under 17s I cant see it happening

etoo

i think Ballina will win it again with waestport a close second.
Manulla and Erris to battle for 3rd spot. The rest are all in danger of going down in my opinion. Very hard to call with 4 teams going down (which is a joke but them the rules).

Well done to S and F on reaching the semis in Connaught by the way. hope ye go on and win it. hel be flying fit for the Super League anyway which will give ye a head start on other teams anyway. S and F might be a surprise package this year and be able to challenge the top 2 if there Connaught Cup run is anything to go by but ill stand by my earlier prediction and say the might be in danger of going down.
looking at the table from last year you will need 20 points plus to survive. going to be very tough season for all of us in danger of the drop. looking forward to the battle now, not long to go ;)

Back n the game
28/03/2010, 2:10 PM
Just left Charlestown game with Swinford, Swinford scored after 5 mins and I thought it was going to be a complete humiliation but Charlestown to their credit stuck to their guns and got back n the game with a well worked goal and were 3-1 up when I left with 10 mins to go. Swinford looked very fit but have no real quality players. Their manager is very vocal and will get a lot of attention this year for his ability to shout and roar for a full 90 mins. Cant see them surviving in the SL without bringing in some quality players, as i said very fit but no real playmaker. Charlestown on the other hand seamed to start slowley but were more than able for this SL outfit and had what seamed like 5 or 6 first team players not even togged out. Cant take too much from friendlys but im sure a local darby should have been enough incentive to get players rilled up and espically to impress an new manager but Swinford just faded totally in the 2nd half.

29/03/2010, 8:14 AM
Swinford were very poor alright. We are without 5 or 6 first team players from last year through injury who should all be coming back over the next few weeks. The new manager is having a look at all players A + B from last year and everyone is getting a chance. I think come start of season you will see a very different Swinford.

Westport 2, Celtic 0
Iorras 1, Ballyheane 0
Swinford 2, Ballina Town 3

Nothing too surprising about those results, apart from possibly the closeness of the scores. Swinford should be proud of getting within a goal of the champions, whilst Ballyheane's demise is obviously exaggerated too, losing by just the one away to Erris. I was at the Westport Celtic match, which was scrappy in general, due in the main to a very hard, bobbly pitch. Not a great deal between them really, Westport a bit more composed but Celtic looked very fit and up for it. Not really a great deal to be learnt from today I should think... How did S+F get on? 4-3 down last I heard... hopefully they got one back..

What kind of a side did Westport have out and did Celtic have many of their youths side involved?
