I booked the Ibis Bratislava Centrum on booking.com for the location....so many people are recommending staying Central as it can be major dodge, so figured the Ibis was best. Usually booking.com allow you make a reservation without taking a deposit but of course cos the Footballing fans are in town the Hotel has a clause of taking full payment on booking....but I did get a room for two/for two nights for €130 which for a very central location I thought was good value. Roll on the Ireland trips can't wait to get back on the road again am having withdrawal sympthoms.....

I reckon if it's on in Zilina your better off staying there for the night. I've had a quick look and I think the next train out of there after the game is about 2.30 AM

Is it much of a train journey?

Zilina is an hour from Trencin, another 2 hours to Bratislava, and another hour on to Vienna.

Our crew have decided to fly to Vienna and then get the train straight to Zilina (4.5 hours)....have booked two nights in Hotel Dubna Skala http://www.hoteldubnaskala.sk/default.asp?lang=eng&setcookie=true which we can cancel without charge if the game is in Trnava (also booked Hotel here for two nights )

I prefer to be in the actual City where the game is going on

I don't think you can book the train any earlier than 92 days in advance (using DB Bhan )

You might fancy getting a bus to Bratislava, and taking the train from there. Train travel in Slovakia is dirt cheap, and set to be much cheaper than if travelling from Vienna. Plus they use Euro now as well, unlike last time.

There's no need to book the train months in advance, pay for it when you get there. There'll be loads available.
