LOI Managers with Pro Licenses

We now know that Shoddy Collins doesn't have one but that Tommy Dunne, his assistant at Cork City does have one.

Does anyone know which other managers do and dont have licenses?

Ian Foster doesnt have one, as reports in today's media suggest that we are been overlooked for the Europa League spot in favour of Sligo due to this.

Id imagine all others in the Premeir Divison have them.

How long does it take to do? Are there courses run on a regular basis? I know its a series of workshops but are they run weekly.

Just wondering is it something that Shoddy and Foster could complete before the season starts really?

The FAI ran a course for all LOI Premier managers at the time a couple of years ago. I remember Alan Mathews did it whilst with us anyway. So I'd imagine most of them will have it.

The Pro Licence involves a fair bit of study and submission of a thesis/report. Didn't Roy Keane do his work experience down in NZ with the All Blacks? It's all part of cross training and preparation.

I'm just picturing all the managers sitting in school uniforms now. Roy Keane biting the face off Avram Grant for forgetting a pencil, telling him "fail to prepare, prepare to fail", before getting in trouble for using "Trigg ate my homework" as an excuse for the 10th time.

Steve Bruce and Sam Allardyce would be copying Alex Ferguson's work over his shoulder, and Arsene's work wouldn't be finished because he didn't see one of the questions, and Harry Redknapp sitting at the back running a lottery scam.

You can't put a price on success.
There may be Tutorial fees that candidates pay for PRO. In the lower level courses run by the FAI UEFA "A" was €1650, UEFA "B" €975, GK "A" €1400 and GK "B" €850. There's also reassessmments fee (completed course within 3 years) of between €50 and €100.


By being a LoI manager then an UEFA "A" licence is expected and that allows for the invitation to a PRO course.

Approx. € 6,500 a lot of money if you had to pay for yourself,although I am sure the employer in some cases will pick up the cost. :eek:

Yeah think Cousins has it alright, I think he was on the same course as Alan Mathews at the time. Gareth Cronin only has a B Licence as far as I'm aware. By all accounts he was only willing to do the A Licence course this month if the club paid for it and paid him the wages he'd lose out on for his week off work. One of the main reasons he left apparently.

Just shows how much of a clue TNB has about football. When you decide to get a new manager in and if you have ambitions to stay in the premier and get good revenue by playing in Europe. Surely you ask him have you got a Pro Licence before you offer him a contract!

I think he was doing the pro licence along with Anthony Gorman, Billy McKinley and Terry Gibson. Not sure if he completed along with the rest of them.

It takes the best part of a year to get the Pro as far as I'm aware, you have to do a good bit of work. He won't have it by May or June or whenever the UEFA entry has to be in. Not that I'd expect it to be a live issue by then anyway.

Indeed. Come on the FAI, kick Cork out!

I dont think any fans would care this year to be honest. TNB/Roddy is using it as a lure for players and Cork public not in the know about what's going on. That's my opinion anyway.

Those three are still taking the course, won't be complete until June 2010 as per Harpo's post above. Nor does Tommy Dunne, who was believed to be holding a Pro License.
