Can you confirm the venues of those, esp the QF - I guess it's at Ellis Park in Joburg ?
Also will you be in SA to swap / sell the tickets there ?

I will have a few spares for most of the Cape Town games. I'm there for the first week if anyone wants to meet me. I don't have the England game though.

I will probably have one spare ticket each for the last-16 match in Soccer City on 27th June (game 52) and the quarter-final in Soccer City on July 2nd (game 58 - possibly England v France). If anyone is interested let me know - obviously I'd prefer another Ireland supporter to get them if possible.

By the way it seems kalula and 1time are slightly reducing the price of their flights, so for any people thinking of doing day trips from Joburg to Durban for a game it might well be worth looking again - NB some of the Kalula flights go to / from Lanseria (the second airport in Joburg) not OR Tambo, which (I think) is to the west of Joburg (not that far away from the city center) and slightly nearer Pretoria.

Hey gspain,
Do you still have spares for all the above? I have nothing booked yet (flight or accomodation) but securing tickets in advance of travelling is an incentive to look into things a little further.

Has anyone had the full info on how they will collect the tickets ?
FIFA sent me an email a while ago saying details would be posted soon but I've not heard from them (I assume the letter would describe how / where tickets can be picked up).

At kiosks in all the host cities. No locations yet but rumours of the airport. Hope they are at the stadiums like Germany instead of downtown in Japan,
You insert your credit card and out pop your tickets. Well that is the theory anyway.

It's been vaguely mooted as April, for the confed cup they used the kiosks, so I would assume the same procedure will take place.

In germany and japan did you have to get them all at once or can you get it game at a time ? I'm heading up to Vic Falls after my 1st game but before my second and dont want to have to get all my tickets in one go...

probably all at once.
Korea/Japan was 1 by 1 but tickets were conditional. I had us to the final but only if we got there.
Germany was all at once. I reckon you are better to take them all anyway.

Isn't there going to be loads of spare tickets I hear the sales are pretty poor. England apparently had 6000 unsold tickets and returned them to the organisers

They didn't sellout a potential 2nd round tie in Rustenburg or a potential 3/4th placed playoff. The way tickets are sold to members of the England travel club means they know exactly what games they have and haven't got should England progress.
Quite a few games are sold out at the moment but more tickets come onstream next week. In reality tickets won't be a problem for almost all games in this tournament.

I think a lot of the demand is based on where the games are and the ex-pat's; there is huge demand for Cape Town games for Italy, England & Portugal because there are large ex-pat migrant populations here.
I think it'll be handy get tickets for games in places like PE, Bloem etc..

You do get the feeling that FIFA are going to have to giveaway unsold tickets to the locals to fill the grounds. I think SA will prove to be a financial disaster, because it costs so much for a lot of the Europeans to get there. The only thing I like about these situations is the touts get stung when there is a glut of tickets.

The Sponsors stepped in when the confed cup was struggling to sell tickets for the lesser games, I can see the same thing happening again.
Oddly I expected a lot of giveaways, competitions etc.. but there have been very few here.

Has there been any mention of free buses between stations / town centers and the stadiums ?
I've a match in Joburg on the 27th (winner gp a v runner up gp b) which, if it goes to Extra Time, might not finish till around 11pm, and given ellis park's proximity to the dicey bits of Joburg (Hillbrow and Yeoville) night be chancing it a bit.

Cape Town games sold out
It seems likely that more tickets will come available. If you follow some of the internet sites there are a lot of people waiting for FIFA to open up the sales channel so they can sell their excess tickets. It seems a lot of people bought up tickets in the earlier phases and then decided against traveling. Anecdotally, I have also heard that many of the large international sponsors will be returning some of their allocations.
I'll be there for the England-Algeria and last-16 games though.

I collected on Sunday and the guy at the desk told me that all Ellis Park, Cape Town, Durban & Soccer City games were gone. There was pandemonium when the tickets were launched for sale last week but by Sunday there was no queue because there were big signs everywhere saying "Cape Town tickets sold out", I don't doubt more will be released though.
The idiocy of Fifa's one stadium per city policy which has resulted in games being played in Polokwane, Nelspruit & Rustenburg is coming to fruition.

Yesterday, boss logs on to FIFA site, buys 8 last 16 tickets.
Fifa organisational chaos.

All the quarters and 2nd round were available yesterday and some of today.
I think FIFA are playing games trying to sell the game sin Polokwane and Nelspruit which are a disaster by pretending Durban, Cape Town etc are sold out.
I've had Durban tickets up for re-sale for Holland v Japan for weeks and it was showing sold out - now there are loads of tickets available for that game. Mine haven't sold nor have
my others for the other venues which are very unlikely to sell.

Thanks gspain. It seems clear there will be plenty of tickets available for almost all of the games (except for the semi-finals and final I suspect). I bought tickets before the draw based on venues so I'm just going to Cape Town, Jo'burg and Durban. I'm going to offer two spare tickets up on the FIFA website in the next few days but happy to accommodate anyone on here if they want to take them off my hands directly.
Match 52 (Last 16) Winner Group B vs Runner-Up Group A (Johannesburg 27th June)
Match 58 (Quarter-Final) - Johannesburg 2nd July (potentially England v France if they both win their groups - i'm really struggling with who to support if that comes to pass).
Just one spare ticket for each game. Let me know if anyone is interested.

I'd love to be there but I get the feeling a lot of games are going to have the atmosphere of American baseball games, lots of families not really knowing what is going on and very few actual fans with a real interest in their teams result. I have no faith in the FIFA machine

I think its the legit site but its just part of the overall chaos that FIFA/MATCH have once again managed to land themselves in. AFAIK lms stands for last minute sales.
There are plenty of tickets still on sale and more keep appearing on an almost daily basis as sponsors and non-travelling fans put their tickets back into the pot. There were England-USA tickets on sale yesterday and I know of people who were still picking up tickets for the final last week (that is remarkable the week before the tournament starts).
I bought my tickets early on (mostly before the draw in December) but it seems like I could have waited until the very last minute and picked almost any game I wanted. The flight and accomodation costs definitely turned a lot of people off travelling but I'm hoping that might make things work a bit smoother when we actually get there.

I live about 30ks out of Cape Town, going in tomorrow for the game and we booked a guest house last minute for 500zar (50 Euro's)
Match screwed a lot of accommodation holders over with their empty promises and mark up policy. FIFA screwed the ticket sales by pretending popular games were sold out to try and get people to buy for the unpopular games
Despite all that I bet they still come out smelling of roses and the media will blame the hosts, despite ticketing and accommodation being predominately FIFA's domain.

Hi,
I've one ticket for each of the following for sale for face values:
2nd July /// Port Elizabeth /// Match 57 - QF - W53 v W54** CAT2 200.00 USD
29th June /// Pretoria /// Match 55 - R16 - 1F v 2E CAT2 150.00 USD
27th June /// Joburg SC /// Match 52 - R16 - 1B v 2A CAT2 150.00 USD
25th June /// Nelspruit /// Match 46 - Korea DPR* v Côte d Ivoire CAT2 120.00 USD
23rd June /// Nelspruit /// Match 40 - Australia v Serbia CAT2 120.00 USD
**This will be Winner <1st E v 2nd F> v Winner <1st G v 2nd H> - if it goes to form could be Holland v Brazil
*This is "North Korea"
Let me know if you want the tickets as they are currently up for re-sale via the Fifa website.
Am going to all of the above games so can arrange to meet outside a few hours before kick off or in the towns a day or two before (except for Australa v Serbia as I only arrive in Nelspruit on the 23rd).
Would also be interested in swapping tickets if you have the Cape Town quarter final on 3rd July as am looking to go to that!
Cheers,

The hosts deserve the blame for the accommodation problem as they tried to cash in. Match have been useless for every World Cup but you will have stupid Brazilian hotels and guesthouses signing up with them too and complaining when they get their rooms dumped a few weeks before the tournament. Definitely great deals to be had now but too late for most people to make plans.
Shame as I think it will be a fabulous world cup. Had they left prices at normal levels there would have been far far more foreign visitors and the local economy would have benefitted greatly.

I know of a lot of places f--ked over by Match, I don't doubt there was profiteering going on but no one in SA wanted empty stadiums, they wanted people to come. Match promised the stars and couldn't delive, no doubt they'll do the same in Brazil, and again in 2018.
Pity to see so many empty seats, but from what I can gather ticket prices seem to be set at pretty much the same level as 2006 when it was a) in probably the most enthusiastic football country in the world (attendance wise) b) within easy reach of all European fans c) in the centre of a seriously wealthy population d) during a boom. Hardly unexpected that attendances are way down.

There were a lot of disappointed England fans knocking around after the game, but the craic was good. The Italy game was too cold to hang around, I was rugged up in my Ski gear!
I heard a tout say 3 grand to one prospective punter as we walked up to the ground but I suspect they could be bartered down a fair bit.
Sorry to have missed you Fin, I had it in my head you were around for the Engerland game, unfortunately with the Italy game being on a school night it was a rush to get there and then because of the weather not much hanging around afterwards.
Did you enjoy the games in PE?

PE was all right but CT was better craic. Long St. was brilliant all the time. PE didn't have any place similar, it seemed to be too spread out. It ****ed rain for the couple of days that I was there too. I went on a day safari from there which was good.

CT was buzzing yesterday with the Dutch, best support I've seen by a long way in terms of numbers, noise and especially colour. It helps that their team puts on a show too.
