Sligs have some issue with MON because he defended Rovers win in Sligo when we scored from a controversial corner. Thats it. The fact that Cook never shuts up in the press defending his team is a virtue. MON does it once, he is public enemy number one.

Minnowism is what I believe they call that attitude in D7, and they are right.

MO'N accused us of of being a dirty team. Cook has never done that, you're talking through your piece.

Can't say I remember him doing that. Can you post a link to where he's quoted as saying that?

Hard to believe that he would, M O`N is a real pro and a decent guy off the pitch.(also possible closet Bohs fan;))

Pat Scully and Connor are the managers from hell.

Not 100% but i think the phrase used was "over physical" or "very physical" which amount to the same thing...which simply is not true with the exception of one player!!(guess who!!!)...under Cook we have been a decent footballing side.

Rafa Benitez, Paul Heggarty, Stephen Kenny, Stan Staunton, John "Bugsy" Cunningham, Patsy Mc Gowan, Charlie McGeever, Swen Goran Ericson, Jamie Redknapp (spoofer), Tommy Wright, Roddy Collins, Fat Pat Dolan just because he appears to think he is too good for League of Ireland (maybe he is)

I can't be bothered looking through the episodes of MNS, but he did get the point over that he thought he were a dirty team.

Why has John Gills name come up a few times during this thread

In 3 years we reached 2 playoffs and won promotion

Roddy Collins. If he got near an under eights team they'd all become alcoholics or something.

You'd know well he was with Floriana cos they're going on about this compensation. They should be glad they are rid of him! Moan-bag.

Not sure Pep could handle the pressure of a big club like Bohs alright. It's alright winning a few tin pot trophies with those Spanish minnows but when the pressure is on and you're only drawing 1-1 with Sligo and the baying hordes in the Jodi are on his back..well that's a whole different ball game.

I know what ye mean, more trouble than he's worth in the long run.
Looks good on paper, and in fairness he's very good on crosses, but so often turns out not to be the Messiah the fans are praying for.

You are probably overlooking the size of budget he had available in comparison to the other clubs in the division. I would suggest, given the resources at his disposal and the fact Dundalk have a very big catchment area for players, that his failure to win promotion at an earlier stage is a true reflection of his abilities.

On a personal level I still recall a Dundalk -v- Harps match at Oriel Park a couple of years ago where Barry Curran was denied a blatant penalty having been subjected to GBH (to call it a mis-timed tackle would be too kind). Mr Gill, in a populist fashion, was gesturing to the crowd to the effect that it was a dive. When Paul Hegarty turned on him he nearly jumped into the stand with fear!

Aside from Gill, I wouldn't be too excited if Paul Hegarty, Pat Fenlon, Stephen Kenny, Paul Doolin, Pat Scully or Eddie Gormley (simply because he exudes such an aura of misery) were appointed to the hotseat in Ballybofey.

I've seen Scully's name on here a few times.

I thought he had done pretty well with the clubs he has managed, at least in terms of their league positions.

What is it that makes him a less than desirable manager?

Speaking from a personal opinion I have never been particularly excited by the brand of football his teams play. It was probably no coincidence that Stuart Malcolm had arguably his two best games for Finn Harps against Scully's Shamrock Rovers team and Paul Doolin's Drogheda side. Given that Malcolm was hopeless on the deck but would have headed a meteorite it appears both managers' focus on the long ball played into Malcolm's hands!

I appreciate that the players in the League of Ireland may not share the technique of their Brazilian counterparts but I still think managers should encourage a game plan based on passing and off the ball movement rather than aimless hoofing.

If it they can get to Gareth Farrelly and Mahon, there's few who can handle it.

Fenlon, Keely, Connor, Doolin, Matthews, Scully, Roderick...no surprises really

He works by making young players or journeymen afraid of him. Cannot handle first-team stalwart players who stand up to him.
