I've bought a new laptop a couple of months ago and only finally tried adding itunes to it last night after buying a couple of new albums. What a nightmare. They don't make it easy for you.

I've tried following guidance on apple's website but it's not happening.

Has anybody got any tips? I've read you can download software which will do it for you but I wasn't sure if this was the right way to go about it.

Any help you can offer greatly appreciated.

As far as I can remember you open the Ipod as you would a usb device,*check the music folder and copy and paste them over to your laptop music folder. The files are annoyingly named as random four letter sequences but once you upload them to Itunes I think they are read correctly and restored with proper song/artist names

There could be an application that makes that a lot easier though but thats the way i did when my last laptop crashed i believe

cheers Jebus. Apple sneakingly hide your music files so you have to unhide them. I managed to find em, copy em but when I tried pasting em it didn't get dropped back into ITUNES. I've printed some guidance today at work and if it works I'll post it on here. I'm sure plenty of folk will have trouble with this over the next few years!

The last time I switched machines I didn't read the prompt properly and wiped my whole ipod. I think it took me 2 years to get back to where I was!
