Pacquiao v. Mayweather.

Does anybody else thing this is just about the most promising fight in the last 10 years / 20 years / since Hagler v. Hearns / ever?

The one thing that really interests me is, has mayweather ever been in a battle? i mean has he ever taken a few proper shots or been through tough rounds and i certainly cant really remember. No one has ever got consistently close to him. Pacquioa can take belts and he can certainly give them out. Cant wait, is it march?

Jose Luis Castillo got close to him first time round, lost a disputed decision. It wasn't a war, but showed how Mayweather can be limited. I think Pacquiao has the ability to limit him and the power to hurt him. I just wonder if Pacman has the strength to limit him for 12 rounds.

I believe Mayweather will win this comfortably enough after an early battle. Pac Man will not get through to him enough to put him away, and in the latter 4 rounds the class will come through.

yeah Osarusan is right, the first Castillo fight was a difficult night for Mayweather and some ringside observers had Castillo winning. I have a copy of both fights somewhere in the loft! A faded De La Hoya also gave him problems and if he didn't run out of gas (as usual) down the stretch he'd have won the fight. Freddie Roach devised the perfect gameplan on how to nullify Mayweather for that fight and I'm confident the Pacman will succeed this time around. Biggest fight since Leonard-Hagler. If I wasn't saving for a wedding I'd be going......thinking about it I could have the stag do there! It will be a classic.

My one regret is not getting down to ladbrokes to stick big money on Khan to win in rounds 1,2 and 3 last weekend. Woeful stuff from Warren and the worst world title challenger since Mario Veit. Khan has got his mandatory out of the way so he'll enjoy 2 more soft defences against bin men before coming unstuck. He's too chinny. A shot Gomez nearly had him out of it and he was probably only training for a week or two.

I'd like to see how they look in the build up to it, but at the moment, this is how I'd see the fight going, although I'd say it will be Mayweather's stength as the naturally bigger guy that sees him take the final 4 rounds, rather than his class, after a relatively even fight for the first 8 rounds or so.

I see your points, but just can't see how Pac Man is going to seriously trouble him. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Pac Man take the first 4-6 rounds to make Mayweather chase it....I just cant see it.

I just don't know Joe, I just don't know......two truly great fighters in the same ring.......I just don't know.

But you said you saw the first 8 rounds as even, with Mayweather winning the last 4....

Yes, of the many possible scenarios, I think that's the most likely, as I think Pacquiao will tire quicker.

But if he's picked up more rounds than Mayweather early on, he'll be able to counterpunch and conserve energy that way.

If I were placing a bet, it would be Mayweather on points, but I honestly think the fight could go so many ways.

Congratulations shaker!

cheers Paul.

Fight in trouble now. Mayweather wants Manny to have blood and urine tests but Manny has a fear about giving blood. Mind games? Is Manny on something?

The reason Mayweather was so insistent on the blood tests was part of his generally rather effective mind games. He's very good at finding the one thing that will drive the other fighter potty and applying pressure in the pre-fight build-up.

While it does raise questions about Pac-Man's motivations (something Mayweather undoubtedly was aware it would) the reasoning behind Mayweather calling for it is sensible in a tactical sense. It's all about finding the weak-spot. Mayweather knew that he wasn't really risking the fight as either Pac-man would agree to the condition or find a compromise, in both cases begrudgingly, or he would his bluff and Mayweather could live with that and keep the fight on.

"I don't know if this will help the chances of the fight happening. But with all this talk of drug tests, let's actually do one."
