Mirror today says Platinum 1 are organising a 4 team tournament next season. Hibs and Hearts being asked to play vs Rovers ANother.

Hearts manager Laslzo somfin said " The company from ireland are trying to bring some big teams over."

"But they couldnt get any so us and Hibs are going" < think they ran out of paper and couldnt fit that line in.

I'm going to have to stick up for my current local team here! Hibs are a big side.

Anyway, if the other team is a big enough continental sde, it could be a good way of further promoting the league.

Have Rovers got a partnership going with Platinum One? If so, it might be worth other clubs looking into a similar thing

Is this this time next year or do they mean pre season for the British sides?

Is it not blatantly obvious?

We had a mid-season friendly with Hibs in 2005, about 500 City fans turned up and about 300 Hibs fans came over. A complete waste of time and money.

Rovers were working with Platinum One for the Madrid game long before Barrett signed for Shamrock Rovers. If you were an Irish company trying to make some money by bringing teams over here for pre-season tours I'd imagine Rovers set up/board of directors are amongst the most professional and easiest to deal with when it comes to setting up this sort of event. The huge success that was the Madrid friendly always meant that P1 were going to continue bringing clubs to Ireland to spend pre-season here, and the natural option for a friendly opponent is thus Shamrock Rovers. Hopefully next summer it will be Rovers, hibs, hearts and a big European side playing every game in Tallaght Stadium. It's the sort of well run professional and glamorous event that the LoI needs to be associated with more.

And yeah, Rovers played Hibs earlier this summer, can't remember the exact crowd but it was a couple of thousand at least who watched a Rovers reserve team comfortably beat Hibernians first team at the time 1-0.

For the record P have worked with other Irish clubs, and indeed looked to work with others for the Madrid game. European commitments took some out of the running, and I'd imagine will do so again next year

i'm sure most teams would be easy to deal with if they were told that they were going to be playing madrid.

i would be very very surprised if rovers were playing in this tournament if its going ahead. chances are its in july and rovers will be playing in europe then. league games will, more than likely, have to be rearranged also.

Bullsh!t. There was easily well over 1000 Hibs fans at that game, same for the games against St Pats and Shamrock that year

True for the St Pats game. Hearts played in Inchicore as well (2004 or 5)? weekend afternoon if memory serves and brought fairly large crowd with them.

St Pats played Hearts a few days after the Hibs game, 0-0 draw on a very warm Sunday afternoon IIRC. Hearts brought a couple of hundred supporters

Not a hope, they half filled the shed and it was sparse enough in there that day. 400 would be pushing it.
