Cobh Ramblers face a daunting beginning to their First Division campaign after being paired with two of the section’s hot promotion fancies in the opening eight days of the new season, the fixture list for which was ratified at a meeting of the league’s Board of Management on Thursday night.
First up, Dave Hill’s side make the longest journey to Ballybofey, where they will take on Finn Harps, the Donegal side keen to make amends for near misses of the past three seasons.
Eight days later, Cobh’s first match of the new season will see them meet another of last season’s play-off sides: Bray Wanderers travel to St Colman’s Park on Saturday, March 27th.
Ramblers then face what should be somewhat easier examinations of their promotion credentials against Kildare County, last season’s fifth-placed side, and Monaghan United, who were a lowly 11th last time around.
