To avoid the depression that is the WC draw earlier, a review of our WC campaign, would be interesting to get opinions on the following (feel free to add any others):

Player of the campaign: Richard Dunne

Most disappointing player: Aiden McGeady

Highlight of the campaign: Keanes equaliser in Paris

Lowlight of the campaign: Henry handball/Gallas goal

Best goal: Whelan V Italy

Worst conceded: Gilardino in Croker

Most improved player: Whelan

Hope for the future/Find of the campaign: Liam Lawrence

Player of the campaign: Dunny Monster

Most disappointing player: Kilbane (Can't really blame him that much though)

Highlight of the campaign: Being there for Robbie's goal in Paris

Lowlight of the campaign: Being there for Henry's handball etc. Gilardino's last minute goal

Best goal: Whelan vs Italy

Worst conceded: Iashvili at home to Georgia in 1st minute / Camoranesi at home to Italy

Most improved player: Duffer

Hope for the future/Find of the campaign: Sean St. Ledger

Most underwhelming moment: Montenegro home match

Biggest 'groan' moment except for conceding: O'Shea going off injured in Paris and McShane coming on

Rub of the green moments: South Ossetia war. Penalty vs Georgia

Player of the campaign: Richard Dunne

Most disappointing player: Not sure of this tbh, Kilbane didn't really inspire me at all, so suppose I'll give it to him

Highlight of the campaign: The moment Robbie hit the net in Paris (in the group stages, Keane v Italy away and St Ledger's at home come close).

Lowlight of the campaign: The End

Best goal: Whelan's cracker against the Italians

Worst conceded: The second Italian goal at Croker

Most improved player: Damien Duff

Hope for the future/Find of the campaign: St Ledger for me - though Lawerence does deserve mention. Would have liked to have seen another striker stake a claim here.

Player of the campaign: Richard Dunne/Robbie Keane

Most disappointing player: Paul McShane

Highlight of the campaign: Robbie's goal in Paris followed closely by St Ledgers at Croke Park and our overall improvement.

Lowlight of the campaign: How we exited the campaign.

Best goal: Whelan v Italy. Couldn't see a lot from the opposite end of the pitch but it still looked like a fine strike. Didn't see it hit the net so had to wait on the roar of the crowd.

Worst conceded: Gilardino's equaliser. Heartbreak. So damn close.

Most improved player: St Ledger. Took his chances and grew and grew and grew.

Hope for the future/Find of the campaign: St Ledger. Given luck and consistent performances he will continue to grow and develop. He'll learn so much beside Dunne.
