This is from The AU board:
And now the end is here, and so we face the final curtain... Yes folks, we're almost at the end of the Decade With No Name. And while every mag and its aunt will be rounding up the best albums released since 2000, we thought we'd do things slightly differently.
That's why we're asking our staff, contributors and most importantly YOU, the readers, to tell us about the Irish albums you have loved and hopefully not lost over the last 10 years. Compile a list of up to 20 albums, ranked in order, and email it to me - chris@iheartau.com I'll then have the thankless (but probably fascinating, now I come to think of it) task of putting it all in a spreadsheet and coming up with a final countdown.
The deadline for your lists is Monday, November 23. Yes, time is tight, so get your thinking caps on and your lists in. Remember, we're looking for Irish albums only - north or south. And the Irish/UK release dates must have been since January 1, 2000.
Happy listing!
Tonight's the last night, but could be a source of some debate.

I haven't listened to a lot of Irish music recently unfortunately. But JJ72's debut is class. As is Bell X1's 'Music In Mouth', they never improved on that, for me anyway.

Me too.
I thought Music in Mouth was a bit whiny and wet-the-bed.
But, when they do turn it on it's majestic. He's got a great wit in his lyrics.

Flock was a notch below Music In Mouth IMO. Blue Lights on the Runway wasn't great though.

For the Birds by the Frames for me. They went down hill big time after that and the only album they really made on their own terms, steve albni's anti production is top class also.

Damien Rice - O, not amongst my favourites, but internationally probably the best selling Irish album of the decade.

Would have said yes until he released a song called "Irish blood, English Heart"

Albums from Ireland during the zeros I've really liked:
Hystereo - Corporate Crimewave
Mic Christroper - Skylarkin'
Afro-Celt Soundsystem - Anatomic
Imelda May - Love Tattoo
Jape - Ritual
And anything by Rónán Ó Snodaigh or Kíla (maybe Gamblers' Ballet in particular).

My Top Ten [no particular order] for a variety of reasons..........
The Duckworth Lewis Method - Neil Hannon and Pugwash [new I know, but excellent]
Music in Mouth - Bell XI [better than Flock]
For the Birds - The Frames [agree with what was siad previously]
SkyLarkin - Mic Christopher [mostly sentimental reasons]
The Prayer Boat - Polichinelle [brilliant, think it was just about sneaks in 2000/2001]
Hal - Hal [stands up well in fairness, Play the hits still a fantastic song]
The Chalets - Check In [was great fun]
JJ72 -JJ72 [even with Greaney's whingy vocals, some great tunes]
Mark Geary - 33 1/3 grand Street [if only for Volunteers]
The Tycho Brahe - Love Life [surprised it hadn't been mentioned]

They were a great band. "Play the Hits" is one of the best Irish songs of the decade.
