nothing we havent heard already. St Ledger saying he still hasnt gotten over it. Kamara saying he reckons there will be a replay but Doyle saying that it just opens too much of a can of worms.

Could you imagine if Robbie dived for a penalty in any replay?
I think Doyle is right in many ways.

. Kamara saying he reckons there will be a replay .
That would be UNBELIEVABLE, Jeff.
(Would've thought he'd know better than to believe that btw)

It was all over SKY this morning: Sunday Supplement, Goals on Sunday and then Doyle & SSSL were both interviewed on Sky Sports News.
Just for clarification: I don't support Henry Winter's calls for Henry to be banned from the whole World Cup, but I think a 2-3 game ban is appropriate.

I wouldnt be surprised if Henry opted out of the group stages, some sort of self imposed ban or something. There is never going to be a replay, like I said in the other thread, there are too many logistical issues, also we dont have any clout in FIFA like Bahrain did in 2006.
When the draw comes out for France's group I'd be tempted to say we should offer friendlies to the other 3 teams as part of their warm up.

So would you agree the Robbie Keane should also be banned for the 4 handballs he was caught for??
Why would FIFA ban him for 2-3 games for a yellow card offense??

He was punished in the game, the French got frees each time.
If the ref had given a free out for Henry's handball, or the other handball, or the offside, it would have been a footnote in the game, instead of the main talking point.

Henry should get no ban in my view. Players handball all the time. Only difference is he did not get caught. The punishment should fit the crime not be based on the ref not seeing it and the wider implications of what happened from it.
Its like if a guy robs a shop and then the person who owns the shop has a heart attack due to stress, the person robbing the shop should not get done for murder or manslaughter, but just robbery.

Yeah i don't believe Henry should get a ban. It is a yellow card offense in the game so it is wrong to give him a 2-3 game ban for it. Let him live with it. He will get abuse off every opposing fan for the remainder of his career over this, it will be what people will remember him for more than anything. It is what the bosses at gillette will remember when they are discussing his new contract with them. He will pay for this handball, with his reputation

Sorry Neil but I doubt very much you'd be saying that if you'd lost an eldery relative through a stress related heart attack in those circumstances. It's a bit of a crass analogy. There's actions, reactions and consequences, it's not black and white.

Can I put an end to this RIDICULOUS counter argument of Robbie Keane's handballs during the match. Going up for a long ball with a centre half all over you on the edge of the box and the ball striking your upper arm(and getting penalised for it) is not the same as deliberately keepping it in play with your hand a yard or two from goal to perfectly control it for your team mate to score. So weldondinho et al, get a grip and find something a tad more relevant to discuss. Idiotic point.

I know but the victims of crime should not determine the punishment of crime. You are dead right I would not be saying it but thats cause I would be emontional and upset. Laws should not be determined by upsent and emontional people.

Yeah the punishment for a deliberate handball is the only punishment that Henry should get. Just because the implications of his handball was that Ireland went out does not mean he should then get a 3 game ban.

It might not be the same situation, but its the same rule. Handball is Handball. End of.

There is precedent for suspending players for gross unsporting behaviour. I think Materazzi got a ban for what he allegedly said to ZZ during the 06 WC Final. This is comparable - this is not the same as a handball in a game of far less consequence. Players sledge each other all the time but only Materazzi gets a suspension - because the watching world knew what he did.
FIFA claims responsibility for promoting Fair Play and an image of the game worldwide. They have absolute discretion in this matter and should make a point.

I wouldve thought if there was a possibility of a ban that FIFA would have said they are looking into the incident except they have pretty much said the referee decision is final and case closed. At this stage I'd be surprised if FIFA take any action.
It is interesting how quiet Blatter and Platini have been....(apparently Blatter is ill). Accordingly to a couple of the more reputable papers today, a replay was on the cards except for Domenech, something about his 750k+ bonus for qualifying was a factor.

No it isn't end of, your arguement to compare the two is nonsense.
As said by others KEane was penalised for the ball hitting his arm when trying to control it - Henry stuck his arm out and controlled the ball with hois hand twice to create a goal, it didnt bounce up of his leg or off his chest on to his hand he followedthe flight of the ball, controlled the balll TWICE deliberately with his hand. Look at the clip again he is looking at the ball as he controls the ball with his hand it didnt accidentally hit off his hand.
He is a cheat who benefited from his cheating - yet again, this was not his first second or third high profile offence in his career.
END OF.
