In the the funny old game of football, player transfers can mean that an opposition player you shouted abuse at from the terrace last season could be in your starting 11 this season.

Anyone got any good example they'd like to share?

Donal Broughan signing for Pats. Everyone Pats fan hated him.

When Dolan signed him it genuinely shocked people. Not onmly was he hated but he was **** too...

Anyway a couple of games into his career a couple of lads in the shed giving him abit of stick and he decides to stick his fingers up. Most in the shed took offence.

Playing Bohs in Tolka they started a "If you hate Donal Broughan clap your hands cant" I'd say at least 50% of the Pats crowd joined in.

He was with us for a couple of months

we we're linked with Trevor Molloy and Dan Connor during the close season, the latter I would have gotten over (many wouldn't) but the poison pixie i couldn't applaud.

We had an experience like that, only slightly different, with Peter Hutton. When Pizza joined Shels for the 01/02 season we all hated him, Judas was a term used quite a bit. A term which Ollie Byrne took exception to, when it was used on a banner in Tolka, and that's when he lost the head and starting attacking City fans.

When Pizza joined us again the next season, plenty of people were a bit iffy on whether or not he should be let back into the squad. I think the past 2 seasons he's proved his loyality again, though a lot of people would still object if he was to be made captain.

Billy Woods did this. One seaseon we were chanting "Oh Billy Billy, went to shamrock rovers and you won fu.ck all" and then he gave the shed the fingure. Next season he's back to our hero.

I think it affects the Dublin clubs more than other eL clubs because there's such movement between them.
Trevor Molloy has to be the best example.
St. Pats, Shels, Rovers and Bohs have all had him.
I hope he never ever plays for City.
Even if he scored an own goal for us I'd ask the ref to dissallow it.

In Europe, Figo is a classic example.
Look out for that mobile phone :D
