Average performances for us but obvious that he was going to turn out to be a good player. Had a trial with Stockport after leaving us last season.

Anyway some interesting names on this list- http://www.pfai.ie/transfer-list

Billy Brennan
Greg Bolger
Ronan Finn
Evan McMillan
Chris Mulhall
Timmy Purcell
Keith Ward

Quite a few players on there I'd like us to sign actually. Too many to name but Bennion or Dick Brush in goals for us next season would be great.

Enda Stevens on the list too actually.

Rocco to Canada is confirmed. Must have worked up the courage to talk to Rusty. :p

Unless we sell Finn for nice money, I can't see us signing anyone on the list really. But yeah, lots of interesting - even surprising - names.

Also, just to clarify that I don't think any of the players - certainly not Finn or Ev - have been released per se. It seems to be a free agents list more so than the released list it was in previous years, although I do think they're at least testing the water. We're hopeful that we'll keep most of the squad together for next year apparently. Scholarship players are already signed up for next year.

Done deal now

Reilly and Finn gone, from what I saw of them two of UCD's best players from last season, big losses ahead of the new season

Kilduff is a free agent as well according to the pfai list. I'm sure some club would take him, if UCD aren't keeping him.

Finn is a big loss, hope there aren't too many going to follow. :(

Kilduff's a free agent in the same way Mulhall was a free agent when he was on that list. He's signed for next year, so I wouldn't be too worried about who's on that list TBH.

Finn'll be a big loss. I think Corry can be as good, although the two worked very well together in the last third of the season.

Rusky's also signed for next year, and all the scholarship players have signed too.

Randomly linked with Daire Doyle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daire_Doyle) in the Bray forum (http://foot.ie/forums/showthread.php?t=129304).

That's an odd one. The wiki article is a little shy on details. Is he a centre mid or a winger?

Daire is versatile can play central midfield, centre half or probably imo his best position at right back.

Interesting. Assuming the rumour is true, I wonder if he's being brought in as cover or to start. Who would he replace? Right back wasn't really nailed down by anyone last year, but there are a couple of decent players there. It makes more sense that he's a replacement for Finn, a little experience in midfield. I presume Corry will start, so it becomes a question of whether it's Bolger, Creevy or Doyle alongside him? Or two of these?

Harding started most of the time when he was fit I think.

Wasn't Shorty named as right-back on team of the season?

We had Daire Doyle for two seasons. Not good enough, quite simply

True, Harding started at right back at the start and most of the second half of the season, when he was fit. Shortall was in the team most of the year, often at right back. Was Harding injured early in the season too? He didn't play at all in April or May.

As Rocky77 mentioned, Daire isn't good enough for the Premier. He was with us in our 1st season back in the 1st division as well IIRC and he didn't exactly set the world alight there either, albeit in a poor team. Started off as a central midfielder for us and was converted into a centre half over time, and wasn't very commanding in either position. Never played right back for us I don't think.

Mediocre player, wouldn't be a very good attempt at a replacement for Ronan Finn!

the CMs you already have Creevy, Bolger and young Corry are better footballers than Doyle

I don't think we'll make a good attempt at a replacement for Finn. Isn't this guy supposed to be a defender anyway?

His primary position is CM, I always saw him play at CM for Longford though I haven't seen him in action for Bray where I believe he played some games at right back

Ward, Nangle, Ev and Kilduff all re-signed per Maccer. Hopeful that Billy, Greg and Shorty will follow. Timmy's been released. so it looks like we'll have the same squad as last year minus Rocco and Finn.

I think the Cork fans rated him. Broke his ankle in the summer though, so missed a couple of months through injury.

Was signed on the back of one superb trial performance against Dundee United in a mid-season friendly and was pretty much a first-team regular after that. Didn't really show that form again (although it was hard to shine in that team; nothing up front and no morale or anything), and picked up more than his fair share of yellows.

Are these all actually signed or signed the way McMillan is signed?

That doesn't add up at all, there's no news yet about a few players that were with us last season. Dave McMillan, Andy Boyle, Sean Harding off the top of my head.

pineapple stu
11/01/2010, 3:44 PM
Dunno. Just saying what Maccer said. He was hopeful of keeping everyone else.

DmanDmythDledge
11/01/2010, 3:48 PM
Ward has been taken off the PFAI list and is down for re-signing for us so he's 100% confirmed to be back at least. Mulhall, Killer and Ev* could easily have just forgotten but it's still an anxious wait till they come back for pre-season/confirmed on the PFAI list as clearly what the club says can not be taken as being 100% accurate.

pineapple stu
11/01/2010, 3:52 PM
Think Muller's uncle confirmed he'd signed. But yeah, I still don't like looking at other clubs' confirmations of new signings!

DmanDmythDledge
11/01/2010, 4:05 PM
I'd imagine most of our players will sign back alright, just need the safeness of knowing it 100%. :) Looking at the PFAI list fully there's actual quite a few players on it that have been confirmed as signing for other clubs so I actually wouldn't take too much notice of somebody not been removed from that now.

Some good players still on there, with Finn of the wage bill and increased revenue next season perhaps room for Quigley...

I got the impression at the end of last year that the management don't feel we need a keeper.

UCD beat UCC in the colleges league. Strong team lining out (http://www.ucdsoccer.com/index.php?a=396), who presumably are all signed for the coming league season.

DmanDmythDledge
28/01/2010, 11:27 AM
The college league wouldn't have any direct connection with the first team, for example Killer probably played for Maynooth in the competition and Killian Gallagher playing for DIT in the past. Whatever of those players that were on scholarships though would be definitely still around I'd imagine.

pineapple stu
28/01/2010, 11:32 AM
That team'll be added to, but we wouldn't play, say, Corry in the colleges league if he were a Rovers player. (I know he's a scholarship player). I remember this time last year noting that Rovers midfielder Robbie Creevy scored for us in the Collingwood and had Maccer on to me straight away. :)

So the players in the squad will be around this season (mayn't be used obviously; particularly the bench), but others like Killer, Boyle, Muller, Ev and what have you have to be confirmed by other sources.

Is it DIT in the semi-final now, or is it an open draw?

** Just found the answer on the CUFL page, it's an open draw! Game to take place on February 10th! **
