Is that Shane Robinson of Rovers and Ger O'Brien of Derry in that side?

Ger O'Brien was probably Derry's player of the season from what I saw of them this season.

Robinson always looked the part with Rovers too, definitely not living off a rep imo.

Can't argue with the rest, Harris being the biggest disappointment when you see his performance against Rovers in the last game of the season.

Did Thomas Heary ever have a reputation???

Most Shamrock fans say Robinson has been poor for them this year.

Left wing so was going Derek O'Brien, has done little since his move to Pats

I'd throw in George O'Callaghan to line up. He was complete rubbish when playing for us.

I thought Faz had a decent season for us. Maybe could have scored more goals.

O'Donnell not up to much though.

Wasn't he injured for a long time?

I have to say, I thought he was Bohs' best player any time I saw them last year.

I Love it when people make up these teams even though they haven't seen half the players playing.

N'Do was one of the best players in a league winning team and McGuniness was one of the best performers until he got an injury and then missed the rest of the season, how you can say they underperformed baffles me

Did Darren Mansaram have a reputation to live off? Maybe he underachieved, but then thats making the assumption that he can actually play football.

Of the Dundalk crew, definates for me are Dave Rogers (boy has he got a reputation), Georgie, Fabio, and maybe Disco Darren. (Dis)honourable mention to Mental Mickey who played a few absolute stormers but most other games were either complete stinkers or he was completely missing. Thomas Heary was like a curates egg - good in spots - but a wholehearted player (and a decent chap).

The recent of the team can easily be filled with St Pats players, and maybe Glen Crowe. Manager - Jeff Kenna. P.R. Specialist - Sean Connor.

Agreed on both counts, Faz was great, Stevie Sideways was crap

He was very very close to making the starting eleven

I wont have a bad word said about Fabio

What? Owen Heary is the most accomplished defender I have ever seen in this league.

PartySaint

Can either of ye tell me what he brings to the game? Pace, attacking, tackleing, he has none of those. Break it down technically and see what he has

Actually i just realised your right, you better hury up and tell Pat Fenlon because for some strange reason he has had him as his captain for the back to back champions

Bit unfair on Gamble, missed half the season with a serious injury which also hampered him in most games he played.

Agree about Stevie Sideways, waste of space.

Seamus Coleman was a by far better wing back, and Gavin Peers is a better defender. Add in Dan Murray and others and you see your statement is pure tosh.

anyone who cannot see how good Owen Heary is as a player and leader knows absolutely nothing about football in my opinion.

Saying that Owen Heary is a bad player is just.... nuts. He's getting on a bit, obviously, but he'd still be first choice RB for 9 out of 10 teams in the league.

Have to disagree with the Rovers lads here. Owen Heary is a class footballer. Fortunately for us, he didn't play against us much (if at all, can't be bothered checking either) this season.

He is class, but there is/was better defenders in the league imo.

I'm in no way saying that Heary is a bad defender, but the above are better.

oh, and medals on the table please.

I'm not starting an arguement of who is better than who, but your medals arguement:

Heary: 33
Peers: 24
Coleman:21

Plus, Peers did play RB in his first season.Seamie is a RB and I'd expect to break into the Ireland squad in the next year.

Consistent performances in title-winning teams over a number of seasons?

My outstanding memory of Heary is from the cup semi final last year, he was brilliant(the *******) nothing got by him he won every header and led the backline from right back, how you can say he is not a good defender baffles me

There were a lot of players who contributed a lot to that team, especially Ndo, Hoolahan, Jason Byrne, Glen Crowe etc...

Not sure about best ever but certainly up at the top

And he's like that in almost every game. Owen Heary is a class above any other full-back I've ever seen in this league. Yes, he may have lost a yard of pace and struggled with injuries this season but his tackling, positioning, organisational skills at the back and leadership on and off the pitch is still second to none.

You simply don't win seven league titles in less than ten years if you're a "bluffer". As SkStu said earlier in this thread, anyone who cannot see what an incredible player Heary is knows nothing about football.

Picking Jason McGuinness on the basis of the racism incident isn't controversial, it's just mind-bogglingly stupid.

You win that many titles when you're in a team who simply buy the league each year!

And with regards to McGuinness, he is over-rated as well, Oman and Shelley are far better in there for ye

What like last year's Bohs side who had the fourth highest budget? Heary is a brilliant defender, not only does he win 99% of ball that comes his way but he also instills those around him with confidence and is a leader on and off the park. Like his mentor, Nutsy, he is a top pro and will one day be a top manager.
