Richie Sadlier has left his position as Pats CEO this afternoon, best of luck to him

Very interesting. Seemed to be pretty ****ed off with the LOI in fairness.

He will be a big loss to the league. Hope all goes well for him and St Pats into the future

I know he was under pressure alright but i thought he was doing a great job. He seemed to have a great take on things and at times wasn't afraid to stick the boot in. He is exactly what this league needs.

He wouldn't like to come down to Cork would he?

I'm sure he'd prefer a job where he gets paid (on time).

He had spoken on MNS about the pressures of the job saying that after they beat Elfsborg 2-1 he was already thinking about getting a venue for their next round clash. Must be a very stressful job, but I think he has done very good with it.

Nothing against him or anything but why are people saying he's a big loss to the league?

He was one of only a few people in the league who went about things the right way.

Have to agree with Mr. A on this one. He is very presentable and is an excellent media peformer.

Apart from this, I can't see any exceptional capabilities as a CEO. His tenure will have seen Pats loose a considerable seven-figure sum and become embroiled in a relegation battle.

Like poaching our manager back in Jan uary? If he was such a champion of the LOI, why didn't he write about it every week in his Sindo column? Possibly a nice guy, but a big loss to the league??
Seamus Coleman, Paddy McCourt, Niall McGinn, Keith Fahey, Jay O'Shea - they are big losses to the league. A pen-pusher? Nah

"Poaching"? Thats a laugh. Kenna was a gloryhunting mercenary and went where he thought he would have an opportunity to win some trophies. Like plenty of managers down through the years he wanted to boost his profile in the hope he would get a job in England. Didn't work out as he had planned and things went pear shaped at Inchicore big time under his tenure.
Anyways, you ended up with a much better manager in Foster. You should be grateful.
Sadlier was a good media operator but hard to see how his presence benefitted Pats much. Although these days, any team that stays up without having to pay players under the table and manages to pay the bus driver must be called a success!:)

Has a job lined up in London. Nice guy, smart and understood football

Ballsed up with Kenna, and took a fair bit of flak for it. The job is thankless at the best of times.

Wish him nothing but good luck

It's because I feel so strongly about it ;)
My bad.
Yes Dong, poaching. Kenna committed himself to United, and so for him to leave, IMO someone - Sadlier - had to approach him.
That said, we certainly got the better end of the bargain - Foster as opposed to Kenna, Barry Ryan as opposed to Gary Rogers, and while Derek O'Brien didn't have a great season, he did major damage in games against Pats. As for Kenna, delighted he is now left picking his toenails on the couch rather than a team in a dressing room.

I never said he was a big loss, I just gave an answer to Mr A about why some people think he is. I just said he did a good job. I still blame Kenna for leaving, you can't blame Sadlier for trying to get him, if Kenna was commited he would have stayed.

A big loss for Pats, not a big loss to the league.

An articulate voice in a sea of inarticulate voices. I hope we hear from him again.

Lets not forget he had Roy Keane call him up & tell him what he thought of him. For that alone he should be heralded as a legend.

What did Roy call him up about and more importantly what did he say???

But he was also supporting Stan as well despite all the shocking results as Irish manager

Anyway he was very good on MNS, I liked his frankness

wouldnt go that far.made alot of mistakes. (johnny mac contract extension, appoint kenna ,could name aload more) but the one saving grace was cutting the budget at the start of the season. at least the club is still alive (and financially healthy, if his newspaper quotes are correct)

Exactly. I couldn't care less if he presents himself well on TV or if he has a half-decent newspaper column... I've seen nothing to suggest that he did a good job at St Pat's.

He took a punt on Kenna... easy mistake. But allowing Kenna (and his assistant) to fly in and out for training and games? That's an absolute joke. I also think Johnny Mac would have had a strong case for constructive dismissal against him.

If the fish jumps out of the river and flops around trying to get into an empty net on the bank, it's hardly poaching.

Kenna was whoring himself around the league. He got a nice tour of Turner's Cross and Bishopstown from Tom Coughlan and was interviewed for the vacant manager role before he went to Pats. Just because he said he was committed to Galway doesn't mean he was.

Sadlier came across as a decent fella who knew his football, Pat's fans are best placed to judge whether he's a loss, when the league is losing clubs it seems strange to class a media friendly CEO as a loss to the league

He wouldn't.

BTW I don't think people should underestimate media savvy/friendly people in the LOI. We need all the help we can get

Never came across as very personable to me, there was just something about his demeanour that I disliked.

Exactly, the league is screaming out for it. The league needs to give itself any break possible.
