Playing now for Barcelona on Sky Sports 2.

Interesting to see how he plays, if he lasts the whole match and is subbed.

Barca tend to roll over every team in Spain, so I am sure he will play well.

If he is given space he can be dangerous and if he gets sight of goal can be a lethal finisher.

is he declaring for Ireland? Why does he have his own thread here? Theres a thread following the fortunes and fitness of french players - maybe that is were this should be.

He is a key player for them. His form and how he plays could be vital to the French. It's also important to watch how he can be counteracted, as all serious football people watch how to counteract dangerous opponents.

But move it if need be.

He has just scored for Barca. The one player I seriously fear, and we already only know too well.

I hope to hell he gets himself injured. Him playing and not playing for me is the difference between qualifying and not.

I wonder what the plan is to counteract him. He tends to stray all over the pitch but seems most dangerous when he comes off the left hand sideline, plays a few 1 - 2's and gets into the box. I'd put Stephen Hunt on him if I was the manager, probably the only player we have who could counteract Henry's movement.

Dont think Hunt is in good form at the moment and I always think he is much more effective as a sub. Im a big McGeady fan but next week I would start with Lawrence ahead of him just for his defensive abilities

I think if we silence Henry over both legs, we stand a good chance. But they have so many other dangerous players, that's the problem facing the Irish team and management. It's not going to be easy. Going forward the French probably have more than the Italians.

Tactically I would expect Trap to be way ahead of Domenech and thats were we will have a chance. If it was a simple matter of who has the better players we may as well not turn up. But Im confident because of the edge our manager gives us

How original. Tell us something we don’t know already. If the French players had been playing the way they are capable of in their group then we would not be facing them. So by your logic above we will get hammered.

For what reason are people being so harsh on emmet7? he's just trying to give his view and his opinion and people seem to shoot down every one of his posts. Ever since ive been on this forum, except for people posting ridiculous things, posts are generally accepted, but this man is clearly just trying to post his opinion, i think people should lay off a bit.

I agree! I think it is Emmet's opinions on Andy Reid that irk some people.

Without a debate, we just have people sitting round a circle, nodding their head and saying 'I agree' to everything. That would not a good forum make.

Emmet says half truth, and half complete B.S. (on purpose).

I think he makes some good points, but he ruins these by making over the top statements, or making comments that are specifically designed to wind people up.

It would be better to have threads building up our own players than having a thread on this over the hill has been:D (I do know why but my body is stating to shake after writing that)

Lock this thread now.

over the hill, has been? What are you smoking?

He scored 26 goals goals last and was part of probably the best team of the decade. Henry last season was better than I've ever seen him.

That cnut Dudu Awat was playing. I was hoping they'd collide, injuring Henry for a fortnight, Awat for far longer.

I think it had something to do with you seeing Domenech's eyebrows Paul.
That always upsets me when I've had a few.

My quote is more of a joke or wishful thinking but having said that

there is no point building the opposition up too much.

Every foot.ie poster should just add "Lock this thread" to their signature. It'd save a hell of a lot of typing time for everyone.
