Xano's a long-running in-joke. I think galwayjames lost the crowd when he brings up a thread about this in-joke and uses it to rebuke another poster for being an idiot when they were actually partaking of this in-joke.

All his posts show he clearly didnt know about this in-joke and were asking questions to get clarification before realising he was having the p!ss ripped out of him. At worst he is guilty of not copping on quicker.

It doesnt mean that he should be asked to stop posting in a thread or that the more "in the know" posters should criticise everything he posts from here on in.

As a mod, i think you have a responsibility to put a stop to the childish crap and not encourage it as per your previous post.

Chance would be a fine thing. Not too surprised at the news about Crowe, Madden and Byrne have clearly being doing the business in the last couple of months, though would have thought Fenn would be gone before Crowe.

Is Crowe over that injury early in the season, he never really got over that did he?

How the hell can Bohs afford to pay such a "massive" wage to Cretaro considering it was touch and go as to whether they could even remain full time next season?
I thought clubs were supposed to be learning from their mistakes regarding wages over the last few years, not compounding them?
That said, I would prefer to see him at Bohs than Shams if he does go, which i must admit appears very likely.

yeah, he's over it alright - he is just not the player he used to be. At 31 years old he should still be offering more than he did this season and the end of last season to be justifying the wages he was receiving. That the young Paddy Madden took his place in the team for the second half of the season speaks volumes.

I would say he will go to Fingal though there are rumours of Sligo signing him and Ndo. Just rumours mind.

Fenn will be released too for the same reasons as Crowe. Moments of brilliance but for those wages he has to be released.

Bohs are apparently (and hopefully for the sake of the league) okay financially with the deal with the Conway fella and the half a million made from winning the league, plus money coming from the Champions League it really is a good time to be a Bohs supporter...

I don't think singing Cretaro on the wages he will get will have too much of an effect.

dont be so sure that we are - all that most of us have heard is that it was either us or Shams - no-one seems to know what sort of wage he is demanding - only one Rovers fan says that Bohs have offered him a huge wedge which is more than Rovers were offering but i would take that with the usual pinch of salt. Our budget will be significantly reduced again this season as it was last - even more so.

edit: Crowe, Murphy and Fenn leaving will free up A LOT of money by the way. They were amongst the highest earners at the club. We have also signed up some of our promising youngsters to medium term contracts and i think they will have a bigger role to play in the coming season.

I saw Madden earlier in the season with Shels and he was excellent and it doesn't really surprise me that he's got in the first team at Bohs. Definitely has a big part to play in Bohs future if he can keep it going.

Just before speculation runs riot as it is inclined to do on this MB, Bohs have 6 players left on contracts. All other players are to be either let go or a new contract negotiated. In case any of the numpty's on this MB are unclear, we are in the middle of the worst recession to ever hit this country. It is a Buyers Market. With Derry, Cork, Kildare, et al showing signs of stress recently, it would be fairer to assume that players will not be offered the ridiculous contracts that were flying about the place 2 - 5 years ago either by Bohs or by other LoI clubs.

Derry get a kangaroo court and now Bohs get a kangaroo 'keeper. Why have we gone all Australian allof a sudden?;)

Some people think it may be "pointless", so early talking about transfers, but it will be handy in time. And I class players re- signing as transfers in a way.

Getting a nice few replies for your "pointless" thread Jim!

If you mean Crowe then I hope he dosent join, on our 5 game sor so against ye, anytime he played he was absolutly woeful, might be good as a sub though. Wouldn't mind Ndo, but what sort of wages would he be on ?

Ndo was on circa 1k with us last season. I don't think he'd fit in well at Sligo to be honest.

I'd say if you played him in behind Blinkhorn and Cretaro (if hes still here!) it would be every LoI defences nightmare to come up against.

I agree on Crowe, he's been very poor this season. Some would say the same of him last year, but he suited the system Bohs played with players coming through from midfield to support him. In the more regular 4-4-2 this season, he was really found out. I wouldn't have him at Sligo on even half his current wage, would rather see Marshall get more of a run in the team.

Couldn't see Ndo leaving Dublin, to be honest. Much more to offer than Crowe, obviously, but I'd expect him to negotiate a contract with one of the other Dublin clubs if he leaves Bohs.

http://www.herald.ie/sport/soccer/cretaro-seeking-new-sligo-deal-1937946.html

IN-DEMAND striker Raffele Cretaro hopes he will able to agree a deal to stay on at Sligo Rovers.

The Tubbercurry man scored 21 goals in all competitions this season and his form in recent weeks earned him the player of the month award for October from the Soccer Writers Association of Ireland.

That form in front of goal has attracted interest, as Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians have been linked with Cretaro, but the player would like to stay at the Showgrounds.

"There have been a lot of rumours about my future and I haven't decided yet about what is happening," said Cretaro, who helped Sligo secure their Premier Division status and also reach the FAI Cup final. I will speak to Paul Cook over the next week or so. I owe him that much, to see if we can arrange something. If that's not possible, then I'll see if I can come to an agreement elsewhere.

"My future is up in the air but I do owe Paul that much - the opportunity to try to get me to stay because, if it was possible, I would like to stay at Sligo.

"I can't wait for the FAI Cup final. I am a local lad and I've always wanted to play for Sligo in a final. I just hope the nerves don't get the better of me on the day."

- Aidan Fitzmaurice

Just to respond to this and leave it at that (cos I don't want to drag the thread off topic).

The "dumbass" was meant more tongue in cheek than anything. If you know the Xano story, I thought the Sligo lads' posts were quite funny, and galwayjames dug himself a hole. If we want to stick rigidly to rules, I can infract him for calling another poster an idiot if you want. Otherwise, I think a little ribbing for falling so spectacularly into a long-running in-joke is compromise enough.

I'd be surprised if Drogheda could afford the transfer fee on Finn. He seemed happy enough to stay on when I was talking to him on Saturday night too; has it cushy with refereeing Superleague for extra cash and all*. But it's possible, obviously.

Agreed, wouldn't touch him now even as a sub. Overweight, overpaid and over the hill for the last two seasons.
He was absolute quality in his day though.

Tis just a rumour I heard in work that was before UCD had even won the league, but while it looked likely that they would, probably nothing in it, like most rumours.

The rumour of Glen Crowe to us seems to be hitting the papers now. I still think if Crowe is some sort of replacement for Raff if he leaves is a step backwards, a star player in his day but hes past it now, hes 31 now but he should still be banging them in! Has the other rumour of Ndo to us been mentioned aswell ?

The various transfer speculations about Rovers reminds one of a piece of verse by er, em, er Heaney one thinks,

All say hello,
To Crowe,
And Ndo.

Quite.

Best of luck to him. Very good player and I will be sad to see him go. 2 year contract will be rare these days in the LOI so I don't blame him for snapping it up. If we can hang on to Daly I won't mind so much as both are very similar players

Sligo Rovers are delighted to announce the signing of Chris Turner on a two-year-contract. Turner joins after a year at Dundalk and previous spells with Partick Thistle, Bohemians and the Bit o' Red.

Turner had a very successful 18-month spell with Rovers between January 2007 and July 2008. The midfielder was recently named in the PFAI team of the year for 2009. He will be unable to play in the FAI Cup final with Sporting Fingal due to being cup-tied.

must say this shows our intent for next year. delighted to have him back, gloves and all:)

That should be January 2006 - July 2007.

Great news anyway, smashing player. Is this the end of Ryan's spell with the club?

Turner was looking for serious money to go to Rovers, would assume he didnt come cheap to Sligo.

Good player, really sorry to see him go, but he was only on a 12 mth contract with us, so we cant complain.

Yes, sounds promising for Sligo, a few more and top 4 might not be beyond them the way the lge is shaping up.

Great signing by Sligo - it shows great ambition.

Although it's going to knock a big hole in the 2010 budget - even on the presumption that he does not get full wages in the off-season next year, its likely to cost in the region of €50k to €60k next year alone.
