I'm looking forward to seeing the League of Ireland Transfer List on the P.F.A.I. site. Do we know of any players that may appear on the list ?

Bit of a hard-on thinking about this alright. Do you mean the "free transfer" list, from when the clubs release players?

Considering 90% of players are out of contract at the end of the year, i'd say alot.

They didn't have one last year so don't expect to see one.

Surely that's a bit unprofessional of the PFAI? I mean, it's in their interests that as many of their members as possible secure contracts with clubs. Having that list available is good for the clubs and players.

It might not have been on their website but there was a list being circulated, I saw Stephen McGuiness hand a copy of it to the then new Rovers manager after his press conference.

Sure I suppose Georgie will be back sniffing around when he is sick of Yeovil

Who will be thick enough to sign him this time ? :D

Sean Connor.

Although I think the local casino is after him for money so who knows.

Ya but Coughlan will probably use his great business head and try hold out for more which he will not get and Kevin will hardly sign a new contract with City while there is so much interest.

I can't exactly work out why there's so much interest in him, the only thing I remember him doing is heading into his own net

Don't know much about us,

I think were okay on this front, however we will probably sell a good few, of course we are the "feeder club"
The bright young 'uns ie. Massey, Shields, Coughlan, Kelly = goneski

Why is Owen Heary on the PFAI transfer list? Thought he was under contract at Bohs?

No, the six players whose contract did not expire at the end of the season were:

Oman
McGuiness
Anto Murphy
Cronin
Brennan
Byrne

I think Powell and Deegan have signed contracts since then. Seems strange that they would let him go...

EDIT: In The Sun today that he is going to sign a new contract.

Very surprised at a some there, but obviously money talks these days.

Still shocked to see Brian Shelley, Ronan Finn and Richard Brush there, to name but a few

Just becuase players are listed does not mean they will leave their current clubs. It's all a bit arbitrary really, it's odd that there's only one Derry player listed for example.

I'm not too surprised to see Finn there.

That's true, but it's important to remember that it's the players themselves who ask to be on the list.

I'm surprised to see skippy, mccabe, foran and deans on the list. I would have assumed the club had at least the first 3 of them on renewed contracts so they could get a fee for them.

I think players have to inform the PFAI that they're free agents to be put on the list. Most won't have bothered yet

All Pats players bar Jay Gavin, Ryan Guy and Noel Haverty are free agents atm

And there's a difference between being a free agent and being released by your club obviously.

Still a massive list compared to previous years. Will be an interesting pre-season. Ronan Finn, Evan McMillan, Dave McAllister, Dean Delaney, Karl Bermingham, Shane McFaul, Richard Brush - lots of good players there.

I believe that after Dec 1st Owen Heary will be signing a new contract with Bohs as per the sun today. He had to wait till after that date as per the regulations.:ball:

For the record I've heard that quite a number of players with 10 years experience will be retiring, as they feel the new budget will close their "tax back" dividend. For some of the higher earners this will be worth a fair few quid to them

i seen that written in (i think) the star last year when the budget was being announced.
they have to choose giving up what they love for a chunk of money.. its a difficult one

Can't they just go amateur and continue to play?
Or work in the bar?

ah i guess but it wouldnt be the same.. i'd imagine its hard to let somthing like your dream job go? sure i'm in art collage do you think i'm doing it for the money?. it should'nt be your only motivation and players like jason and stuart byrne or glenn crowe or owen heary all probably have another two years mabe three in some cases left in them to play professionally. i dont think i'd give that away for any amount of money. but saying that i'd probably quit collage to play for longford for free :D

Shields has signed on for next year

SMASHING NEWS !!!!!!!! :D

It will actually do him the world of good, still only a teenager and the more game time he gets the better he will become.

Same goes for all the other young lads, they might get offers from Premier clubs but they won't get even a quarter the game time as they wiould with us next season. A Championship games, U21 games or sitting on the bench with the odd apperance is about as much as they would get, won't do anything for their development as players what so ever.
