I look at some of these teams of the year & I'm left scratching my head, I think it's harder to lose a reputation in this league than run a club at a profit.

Shane Robinson has not been able to keep a regular spot in the Rovers side so how could you be in a team of the year?

That's a fair point - Gareth McGlynn probably should get in ahead of him.

First Division Team of the year IMO.

GK: Dean Deleany (Shels)

RB: Brian Shorthall (UCD)
LB: Evan McMillan (UCD)
CB: Kenny Browne (Waterford)
CB: Kevin Murray (Waterford)

RM: Conan Byrne (Fingal)
ML: David McCallister (Shels)
CM: Ronan Finn (UCD)
CM: Robert Bayly (Fingal)

CF: Graham Cummins (Waterford)
CF: Karl Bermingham (Monaghan)

Evan McMillan has never played full back in all the games I've seen him play. I could be wrong, but I think he's right footed too.

Also, Shorty's a good player for us, but it's debatable if he's even the best right back at UCD.

Kilduff ahead of Cummins when Cummins has 23 goals?

As for UCD whose your left back then. My bad on that I was sure it was McMillian

Nangle (http://extratime.ie/squads/players/4/1234721/). McMillan is a centre half.

Stephen O Flynn only came in half way through the season. Granted he has been outstanding since then scoring 16 goals or so but a place in the team of the year seems a bit far. However, all to their own opinion!

Brian Boru

I think Rovers would have 2 contenders. Right back : Romauld Boco and Striker : Rafael Cretaro. Gary Twigg would be the other striker by the way. Joseph Ndo would have to be in there somewhere.

I hope he's back with us next season. He should never have been allowed to go out on loan!

I'd probably pick 8 Bohs players, plus Murray, Twigg and Cretaro......

Think you negated your own point there, thats not too far off top scorer.

Precisely the reason he should be there or there abouts in the team of the season. Only in the division a couple of months and he flew up the goal scoring charts. 15 goals in 8 or 9 apperances i believe. Seemed to be a lot more goals scored in the division this season though so there are a good few different strike partnerships that could be in the team of the season.

Wouldn't have Shane Robinson anywhere near this team, he has been muck most the season bar 2 or 3 games towards the end of the season, no leadership qualitys no pace and Stephen Rice carrying him all season. Would have Deegan of Bohs in there and maybe Sean O Connor of Shamrock rovers, he has been fairly consistant all season with a couple of quality goals.

Killer's missed way too many chances to make the team, I think. He could easily have had 20. Done very well for us, mind, but I think Stephen O'Flynn and Karl Bermingham should be in there ahead of him. Was Cummins injured for the second half of the season or did he just drop off entirely in form? Also, I'd have Eóin Martyn of Mervue in nets.

If he was the same keeper in goal for our 4-2 then he would have to be one of the worst keepers I have ever seen. An embarrassment to his club.

Ha!

I think (though not sure) they had two keepers and rotated them throughout the season. Martyn pulled several world class saves against us in both games in Terryland.

Ndo for the very average Robinson and I can live with that selection. Jason Byrne a definite contender but may have to settle for a place on the bench.
Right, Nutsey you have the Christmas list....:)

I am very surprised that Stephen O'Flynn is on the team considering he only played half a season but it is a brilliant achievement all the same..

John83

I've speant to long logging on to these forums and reading the pineapple stuart having a go at his own team, he speant the first half of the season saying how they wouldn't win the league, and the second half givin stick to his own players, Ciaran Kilduff was ucd's topscorer and one of the prime reasons they won the league but Stuey seems to see it necessary to constantly berate the lad on his scoring although for a large part of the season he was one of the few scoring, Stu you're pessimistic and tactless.
Your last three posts:

Kilduff could've had 10.............

Kilduff should've got at least one, he's some what off form

If Fitzgerald gets near that Galway team UCD will hammer them, he is all ego no end product!!!!

Given you've only eight in total, that's a lot of whinging about players, Kilduff in particular, for someone who has taken the time to attack someone over a post where he dared suggest Kilduff wasn't among the two best strikers in the division this season for being negative about players.

Eh?

Your post seemed to suggest that Boco wasn't being picked because he didn't play for Rovers or us; I pointed out that people were picking Cretaro who as of today, is still a Sligo player, and therefore the reason you suggest for Boco's non-inclusion becomes open to doubt....... have i missed something?!
