Talk about wishfull thinking:eek:

Thats us gone anyway

Not quite over yet ,:D UCD need 3 points from their last 2 games. If results go their way, UCD could win the league next weekend.

We're shocking. Deserved exactly what we got, nothing.

Too many players looking clueless, playing sideways or backways passes. It looks like they're all afraid to attempt anything that even might be constructive.

If we end up in the play-offs i would not be confident at all!

Dundalk got another red card?
Breaking their own record. It really has been a strange season.

UCD were all over Longford for the whole match. Your goal was against the run of play and it's a miracle you went in level at half time. We definitely deserved the win.

our was indeed against the run of play. ucd were all over us throughout the whole game but up until our goal they weren't within an ass' roar of worryin shanahan. the two Ucd players i was talkin both said how lucky they were and how they didn't deserve to win. if the players think that, i don't think we'l get a better insight!

Waterford getting a result against UCD is hardly wishful thinking. However, I'll be surprised if we take maximum points from our last 4 given our recent form. If we do however, we're in with a great chance.

I think we're in a win-win situation with Waterford. If Waterford get something out of their game against Shels, a win in Athlone will be enough for us barring a big goal difference turn around and if Waterford lose to Shels, they'll have nothing to play for against us. After tonight, I'm taking nothing for granted though!
I'd be more worried if they'd made it through to the final, then they'd be resting players and all that jazz. But this way they're like every other team outside the top 4, and the bottom 2. They aren't playing for anything significant, granted, but they've no reason to not give it 100% now either. They'll be out to win imo, if teams just stopped caring once they couldn't get promoted, and were safe from relegation, teams like Wexford, Limerick and Monaghan would be trudging along for these last 10 games or so. Waterford will be very hard to beat, for both us and UCD. If we can manage it on Tuesday, I think we're in with a super chance. As said above, 12 points for us is a big ask.

depends which club you are...it seems even murder wouldnt be enough to earn certain clubs a fine right now

Are Bohs one of those sides who will get fined? They ran onto the pitch when both goals were scored last night.Them and Rovers are the only sets of fans who do that it seems.

If Coughlan is still around next season then City will see crowds of 500 or less for each game. Last night saw the club at its worst from a spectators point of view.

I just don't get it with St Pats. I have seen them play Dundalk four times this year and they were excellent (ironically except for the 1-0 win in Oriel), and took 10 points from these four games. Add in what I understand was a 3-1 trouncing of Bohemians - thats nearly a third of the total league points in those 5 games- and top those performances off with their European heroics.

How the heck can they then lose 19 of their 29 other league games, and concede a hatful of goals?

Because the players are money grabbing f*ckers who dont give a toss about the club or the fans

Might be true, but sounds a little simplistic.

Most of the current squad were at the club last season - finishing 2nd?

Not really. They released 9 players plus Keith Fahey and Barry Ryan before the start of the season.

We let 12 players go at the end of last season and one of them was the best we have ever had, you shouldnt underestimate how much Quigley,Guy and Dempsey relied on Fahey

But im sticking with the players being bast*rds excuse for the time being

He is putting in 100% in every game but he is muck, he doesnt go by players he cant cross and he is one of the worst finishers in the league, last year when we had Fahey playing the balls over the top he would just run onto them and he had loads of time and space to pick his passes out but without that supply this year he is totally lost

Ah would you stop, LTFC. There were 3 to 4 hundred at the game in total; certainly not that many from Longford.

And before we scored, Shanahan made at least three superb saves - one flying save from point blank range in the first half, and then two one-on-ones in the second half from Kilduff and Finn in the second. Killer also scored only for to be ruled out for a tight offside (haven't looked at the video yet). Overall we had 23 shots to your six, and 8 corners to your two. Add in the fact that we outscored you too, and there's no way we didn't deserve the win.

Edit - actually, here (229100) you note your keeper was like a wall, and was definitely man of the match. Yet above, you reckon we weren't within as ass' roar of troubling him? I highly doubt you were talking to our players either.

In fact, as noted earlier, I was impressed with the way we kept playing ball even with time ticking down; reminded me of Ireland v Georgia in Croker. Martin Russell = As Good As Trap. :)

have to agree with stu on this.. no way was there 400 from longford.. ucd had more fans than us! good to have the shels fans boostin the away support though! brings back memories of the bohs fans coming to our game when we played them in dalymount in 2003.Sean Francis celebratin in front o what he thought was Town fans but were Bohs fans!
