Cork City yesterday agreed a two-year extension to his contract with 18-year-old centre-forward Colin P. O’Brien from Ballydehob. O'Brien had the distinction of scoring for Ireland’s U21 in a practice match against Ireland’s World Cup team in Dublin last week.
He played for 30 minutes against the Irish senior team who won a match played in three segments against three different selections by 2-1. O'Brien was also mentioned by Brian Kerr as one of the domestic players who is challenging for inclusion in the Irish U18 squad for the European Championship qualifying tournament in Cork next month.

Cork City manager Liam Murphy said; “His current contract is due to run out at the end of the season and I am delighted he has signed on for two seasons after that. He is still a relative novice with lots to learn but he is made of the right stuff. “His goals have heightened expectations among the Cork supporters and that is good but I hope they understand he is learning the game and still has a long way to go. It is important that too much is not expected of him too soon.”

well at least now if Leceister or anyone come sniffing to get him we'll be intitled to some sort of a transfer fee. but then again the board would prob settle for 15-20K sure that alot of rounds of golf u know
