Due to several recent matches in Paris (Football and rugby), whats the recommenedtaions for pre and post match drinks?
I know paris prices would make a "Cafe En Seine" barman blush but its just the one night i guess.
Any suggestions on where the "thick of the action" will be?
Cheers

Our gang hung out in O'Sullivan's Irish Bar in a place close by the Pavillon De Montmartre.
If I remember correctly the Irish fans gathered on matchday at the Eiffel Tower; dat was great craic maybe we'll do that again.
Lets hope the mobile phone coverage does'nt disappear this time round, it was a nightmare last time....no phones at all was crazy.

and Rugby (Ireland V Australia 15th Nov, V Fiji on 21s)
and Irish Pubs for real atmosphere.

I thought it was god awful, nasty atmosphere, full of scummers (Irish and otherwise) and couldn't get far enough away.
Each to their own I suppose but Pigalle ain't my cup of tea at night.
On the other hand, I'd be surprised if 10% of the amount that travelled last time go this time.

If we win in Dublin then there will be a sizable contingent, on the otherhand if we get well beat then probably only a couple of thousand.

in fairness, travel plans will have to be made well in advance and will cost a fair bit..... people will not want to see that much money wasted (plus i'm not sure that many of our away travelling fans are really that fickle)

is the Coolin, in Mabillon.
that's where i'll be pre and post match i'd say.
Patricks near Nation is also good.
Pints are ridiculous expensive most places, so head to a supermarche if you're on a budget, no problem drinking on the street.

Been to Paris a number of times at this stage and not great imo. Is there anywhere for accommodation and nightlife which is a bit of craic and isn't the Pigalle (which is fairly tawdry and seedy)?

I'm afraid that the law was changed a few months ago. It's generally overlooked for law-abiding citizens enjoying a bottle of wine in a park but a load of Irish football supporters drinking cans on the street is gonna draw attention.

There are two O'Sullivans IIRC, one beside the Moullon Rouge and one somewhere else (cant remember the name - across from the Hard Rock cafe).

There are now 3 different ones in town (http://www.osullivans-pubs.com/index2.php?lang=eng&id=bars), one being by the Moulin Rouge in Pigalle, the one you mentioned opposite the Hrd Rock and a new one in central town around the corner of Mcbrides.
Last time we all met up at the Eiffel tower though I imagine that most groups will have their own rdv points in different parts of town. Generally I suggest drinking in a cheap non-irish pub during the day and then heading to one of the big Irish places for the 'craic'.

They'd hardly bother 10k or more Irish fans having a kick around and a can under the Eiffel Tower in the pouring rain, ah the memories.

Was told the Latin Quater was a good spot. Went there last year with the mrs , handy enough
Thought the Mollin Rouge area was a kip TBH and that was during the day. Dodgy shops even dodgier people - the sort of place to keep your wits about you

Thats a bit harsh, would you prefer we were part of the main land? I like our spot on the map to be honest.
Last game in Paris, ended up outside an Irish Pub after the game, with a off-licence accross the road from it, just drank cans all night outside used their jacks etc. Ring a bell with anyone?

Was anything from 5 to 10 euros 5 years ago, not cheap.
Hence 24 cans for a tenner, and down to the eiffel tower for a big party.

There was some sort of an Irish joint beside the Stade last time we were there. I cant remember the name of it but the metro stop was close to it.

It's Metro line 13. The stop is Saint-Denis Porte de Paris. I have no idea if it's still there or not though...
