The ranking of League of Ireland football is improving steadily over the last few years.

We're currently ranked 29 and if we break into the top 20, we'll get an extra Champions League place.

Ummm...you're aware most all the clubs who got those good results have gone bankrupt since? We're more likely to reach 40th than 20th.

It's a bit late in the year for a co-efficient thread..

To be honest, I don't think performances in Europe will improve or disimprove in the coming years. Where Bohs and Drogheda have fallen, Rovers look well equipped to slot in and compete well in Europe next year. Probably better.

And while we'll have lost the fulltime football for a number of clubs in the league, which will be a loss, by and large I think it'll be mostly the same players in the league next summer, and with a bit of application like Pats and Derry had this year, we should be still able to get through a qualifying round or 2 each this year.

Obviously from a co-efficient perspective, which as a Shels fan I don't really care too much about, it would have been preferable to have stronger teams left in the cup.

Lord, I though it was over for another year. I do my best to concentrate and understand from June-Aug but then co-eff retire to a back room in my mind and hibernate for the next of the year. Like a big, brown, mathematical bear.
