Following on from yet another worrying appearance in the High Court last Monday, and due to the overwhelming demands of our members and supporters, we have acceded to their requests to hold a protest action at the Premier Division game against Bohemian FC on next Friday night, October 16th.

While we appreciate that some members may have concerns about this course of action we would stress that we have taken this decision in order to exert some control and order over the very real anger felt by members at Mr. Tom Coughlan and the serious concerns over his management of Cork City FC.

Having consulted the various stakeholders involved in Match Night organisation, and in the interests of safety, we feel the most suitable course of action will be a dignified sit down protest in the centre circle before the game commences.

The point of the protest is to highlight to the FAI that CCIFL under Mr. Coughlan are not suitable licence holders and should not be awarded a licence for next season.

The protest will also show solidarity and support for the proposed industrial action by the players, and will highlight the ongoing wage difficulties faced by our loyal players and staff. We also feel that this course of action gives supporters an opportunity to vent their anger, while continuing to support the players and staff financially, in the face of the increasing and understandable calls for a total boycott of all Cork City FC games while Mr. Coughlan remains at the club.

We ask protestors to access the pitch from the Curragh Road Stand only, follow the directions of FORAS BoM, Security and Gardai at all times, and to leave the pitch when requested. We want to remind all supporters that flares, smoke canisters and other prohibited items are not allowed under stadium regulations, and we ask that no offensive banners, slogans or chants are part of the action.

We appeal to all supporters to behave in a dignified manner and show that we will no longer tolerate the slow destruction of the club we love. We ask that those who wish to participate in the protest be in the Curragh Road Stand by 7.20 pm, bearing in mind that Friday’s game has a 7.35 pm kick-off.

Regards,
FORAS BoM
