If you go on Wed night you are guaranteed a ticket for the Home Playoff match. Delaney just announced this on Sky Sports News.

Presume this means if you are a non-block booker and you buy one of the 2,000(?) unsold Monty tickets you will be gteed a play off ticket.

The Football Association of Ireland today (October 11) announced that holders of ticket stubs for the Republic of Ireland v Montenegro World Cup qualifier on October 14 will be given first option on tickets for the home leg of the play-off game on either November 14 or November 18.

Under the FAI ticket scheme, existing members (block bookers) will be guaranteed their normal allocation of tickets for the home leg of the play-off game.

To apply, those fans who are not existing FAI ticket scheme members, but who purchase their tickets through ticketmaster.ie or through the FAI Umbro store, should send their Montenegro ticket stub by post to the FAI, following the Montenegro game on October 14.

Ticket stubs will be accepted on a first come, first served basis, and must be accompanied by the applicant’s name, address and telephone number, to be received by post at FAI headquarters, no later than October 21.

Tickets are still available to purchase for the Montenegro game at the FAI Umbro Store. (10am to 4pm, Mon to Wed) and will be valid for applications under this scheme.

FAI Umbro Store,
Carrolls Gift Shop,
Westmoreland Street,

(Beside O’Connell St bridge)
Dublin 2.

Good idea, one question though... I have a ticket for the Montenegro game but not sure if I'll be able to make it to Croke Park yet, will I still be able to send the stub off to the FAI??
Will the ticket need to be scanned on the night for me to be eligible?

would have thought so..... i think this is just a way of bumping up wednesday's attendance.....

I have a problem though. I get four tickets per game. Now for wednesday's game, my dad is unable to go. However, I am giving the ticket to a friend. Now, what if he sends the stub off? Hmmm....

Oh wait.... only applies to those who buy through FAI store or on ticketmaster.

I wouldn't think the ticket needs to be scanned on Wednesday to be valid. It would need to be a ticket bought through ticketmaster or the FAI store though.

I doubt they'll spend the time checking each ticket as to whether it was used or not. They don't state you have to us it either.

How can they guarantee that? I presume that Montenegro are taking very few tickets for Wednesday night, so the rest of the available away tickets will go to home supporters. If Wednesdays game sells out under this initiative and we draw a team who want to take their full allocation then surely some of our fans will have to lose out.

They've left themselves an "out" by saying it'll be on a first come first served basis.

Would i be right in saying that the people on the waiting list would be considered scheme members?

Would be amazed if this puts more than 5000 on the gate in terms of attendance.

Most people will just hang onto stubs and reapply from Thursday.....

What if you got your ticket through your club/league?

NeilMcD

Then the club or league are guaranteed a ticket cause they are a block booker. Simple really

tickets for the play off wont be a problem. france, russia, greece and portugal dont travel in big numbers so it will be a similar scenario to last sat game and will just about sell out imo

I'm in that position and would presume I'll receive the same allocation as for the other games in the campaign but have just sent the ticket office an e-mail (they're obviously a little busy today so didn't bother ringing) to confirm. Will post the response here.

As promised see below for reply from FAI Ticket Office:

You will be sent you usual ticket invoice for the home fixture in the coming week or so. For the away fixture you must apply separately as per all away fixtures.

Further information will be posted on www.fai.ie once the draw is made on Monday.

Ticket Office

Does anyone know exactly how the montenegro ticket stub for playoff ticket first refusal swap is going to work? For instance if you want three seats beside one another do you have to send off 3 ticket stubs or if you did send off 3 ticket stubs would you still only be entitled to one ticket? I have read the FAI webpage about it and that is no help so please don't send that on. I have also emailed them and rang them but that was also a waste of time.

crazy thing is if you are a block booker.... can you send off your stubs to effectively double your allocation?

this makes little sense and is rife for abuse.

All 'block booked' tickets have the respective 'block bookers' reference number printed on the tickets. Plus ticketmaster tickets are completely different.

The ones they were selling in the Carroll's shops in town looked the same as block booker ones. They'll know from the seat numbers if they're elligible for tickets anyway.

I'd also like to know this. The FAI webpage doesnt state if you can send more than 1 ticket stub in the same envelope.

I sent two in seperate envelopes. One stub was from a ticket that couldn't be sold hence the reason why I seperated them.
