I thought they stood down years ago.

There were always rumours, particularly in the ninties that they supplied Bouncers to Pubs and Night spots in Dublin.

In more recent years they seemed to be in the News mostly for in-fighting and drug turf wars.

Good to hear these murderous lunatics have given up all pretension of a political cause and will presumably stick to organized crime and vicious feuding from now on.

As cynical as I am about their motives or what exactly them "standing down" entails this is a positive step in the right direction.

Fact is that the majority of their hardcore "idealogists" would have jumped along time ago to join the more militant and seemingly more focussed dissident groups so they've not really been a player on the scene for a while.
