even though the lord of the rings is the front runner in almost everybody's eyes, i reckon it's gonna get shafted.

Not this year. They will have to give it best picture
1. Because it is
2. They MUST recognise the trilogy
3. Jackson's sheer brilliance in filming the unfilmable!

nah, it's running home with a bagful. It's all politics, and last year was indie/surprise/controversy year to a degree with Brody and Polanski stealing 'Chicago's thunder

LOTR will pick up the big two, possibly best adapted screenplay and at least four technical awards, could win up to eight i'd say.

Has to be ROTK with the other two parts getting the reward they deserved,nothing else comes close this year.

have to say i thought the second one superior,and the third one used the same plot basically as no 2.(with a very flabby ending to boot)
