The point being that some club info is allowed like this on the main forum, while others have their's moved to the individual club forum.

I've no problem with things like this, but either leave them all there or move them all to clubs!

Very hard to make any serious money from these events as Growsports take a massive chunk of the income. Good luck with it though.

Ah leave Redron alone, most people will look at this section on footie.ie first, he`s not doing any harm plugging the event for Limerick is he ? Good luck to them.

However, I agree it can be hard to make (decent) money out of these things, we have a similar one v man utd legends in nov in oriel, so we`ll see how that goes also.

Having seen the team of glittering all-stars that graced the Brandywell turf recently, I would say that 'Liverpool Myths' would be a more accurate title for this team of has-beens and never-really-were-beens than 'Liverpool Legends'.

Honestly - most of them weren't even household names in the North-west of England back at the height of their playing careers, let alone now.

What about the genuine Liverpool legends ? Ian Rush, Steve Highway, Kenny Sansom, John Barnes, Bruce Grobelaar, Emlyn Hughes ? Wait - whilst most of them are still connected to the club, it's the cushy matchday hospitality gigs that they get, not the running around in a field one.

It's hard to avoid the feeling that someone was just deliberately seeing how far they could take the p!ss when they suggested stringing together such a list of Z-Listers and asking them to go out and earn money for themselves and the club.

Aldridge, Houghton, Rush, Grobbelaar, McAllister, Gillespie, Marsh, Babb, Hutchinson, Jones, Staunton and Whelan all turned out in United Park v Drogheda in Sept.

Some of them are true Liverpool legends...hope it goes well in Limerick.

Drogheda had a full house.

I'd be seriously impressed if Emlyn Hughes lined out, considering he's been dead for five years.

It was probably the endless matchday corporate hospitality gigs and trips to World Cups and Euro Finals that killed him...... :)

:D The fact that not only did he not play for liverpool, but he actually played for their greatest rivals makes it even funnier :D

I think it would only take a few well known ex players playing to catch the interest of the people of Limerick. They just see "Liverpool" on the poster and want to go. I really hope this is a success. Interesting to see if anybody will make a bid to play for the Liverpool team.

You've spotted that I proudly neither know or care much for English football. Gold star for you.

The point still stands. Who the fcuk were the bunch of nobodies who lined out for Liverpool Myths at the Brandywell....?

Maybe this is why you didn't know many of the players that lined out for them :D

Ah the real legends were promised a trip to Ireland. You lads got the scraps. :)
Seriously though its gonna take a few 'names' for this type of thing to take off. A repeat of what happened in Derrry would be a disaster in terms of ticket sales.
Already a E500 bid in for the spot on the bench so in fairness its been a positive start. (wont be long before everything goes tits up :o)

Aldo, Whelan, Babb and Don Hutchinson confirmed apparantly

As per friday night's match programme, confirmed 'Legends' so far:
Ronnie Whelan, John Aldridge, Phil Babb, Jason McAteer, Don Hutchinson, Michael Thomas, Jan Molby, Gary Gillespie and Bob Boulder.

Not a bad selection, with more to be added yet.

Already a E500 bid in for the spot on the bench so in fairness its been a positive start.

Auction closes next sunday night.
Winning bidder gets to play at least 10mins with Liverpool Legends and will have his picture featured in the match programme in the Legends squad.

I'm moving this post from the thread that was closed earlier!

Is the Lims selection also including legends? The attraction of Finucane, Kennedy, Fitzpatrick, Wardy, etc even for a few minutes, may entice fans of the 70s and 80s?

I read this on another forum on foot.ie

Limerick FC auctioned a place on the Liverpool team on Ebay which closed on Saturday night, another such auction will take place for another place with Liverpool FC next week. Winning bid will be in the Liverpool squad, in the Team photo and play 10 minutes with the Liverpool Legends. Keep checking www.limerickfc.ie (http://www.limerickfc.ie) for details or contact 061 324 563.

so does this mean there will be 2 subs from Limerick that win a place on ebay playing for Liverpool Legends
