I noticed when browsing this site that a hell of a lot of data
is transmited 'upstream' ie from my computer to the site.

for example at one point up was 282K and down was 935K
a few pages later up was 347K and down was 992K
the differences are 65K 57K

Now I can understand me needing 63K to display a few pages
but I cannot understand why 57K of what should be control
data is being sent back, it seems hugely excessive.
Is it just me? am I being paranoid?

You can view data traffic by clicking the connection icon in
you system tray (two linked terminals) and selecting status.

I looked at another forum and the upstream data was about
half that, but still more than I expected

During normal 'browsing I expect ratios of about 10:1 not
almost 1:1.
I cannot understand why so much data is sent upstream?

But off topic I know.

The fact that pages load for me within seconds means its inconsequential to be honest. Owing to the nature of your post you may not come out of this unscathed ;)

I am not bothered by the speed in particular its the volume of
data being sent back to this site, I would like to know why
it so much.
I find it hard to believe that 20K-30K of "control data" is required
to display one page which is in itself only 20K- 30K.

I am just wondering if there is data being sent back to the site
which shouldn't be being sent, I am takjing about spyware and
data collecting stuff.

I will move this to the off topic area if I can, I though that area
would be 'dead' but it gets as many posts as this area.
