Help Wanted Identifying an old Shirt!!

Hi there!
Does anyone know anything about this shirt, which I recently bought on ebay:

I am not sure if it is an outfield player's shirt or if it is a goalkeeper's shirt or in what year it would have been worn. I didn't even know that such a style of kit had ever existed until I saw it on ebay!!

Any info anyone could share with me would be hugely appreciated!!

It might be a keepers shirt from the late 80's that crest was around about that time I think. I stand to be corrected.

We didn't play Yugoslavia in 84.

Jersey looks like an 87-90 goalkeeper's shirt and we did play Yugoslavia in 88 beat them 2-0 before going to Germany. How would you know though?

Don't hold us to this but i'm almost sure that was the type of goalie top that Packie wore for the quilifiers for euro 88, so from 1986 time it would be (if i'm correct), and I have to say it look's damn cool also, i could even see meself wearing that in the bar's and disco's of Basel, Paris, Torshaven, Nicosia, Tel Aviv and Kildare.

Crest is mid-80s to 88. Seem to remember Gerry Peyton wearing that colour for some reason but the ole mind is way to addled at this stage to be more specific.

Thanks a lot! The general consensus seems to be that it is at the very least definately a goalkeeper's shirt!

I'm sure I will dig up an obscure photo of one being worn at some point in the future, but if anyone could lay their hands on a photo in the meantime then I'd really appreciate it if they email me or post it on here.

bonner deffo wore that type of jersey and I think it was for the euro 88 campaign...must check the programmes.

I think the FAI used that logo through Italia 90 and possibly through the qualifiers for Sweden 92 as well. I can only picture the current logo (which I think is vile incidently) appearing from the home game against Latvia in late '92. Though the keepers Jersey had definitley changed by then ...oh yeah -and it is of course a 'keepers shirt. Again I'm ready to be corrected but I don't think we've played in Gold/Orange other than that (also vile) piece of scobes/wahs/spides/dobbers ...ahem... clubwear that we wore while we contrived to lose to those Gods of Gods game Macedonia back in 97.

I said for years we should be wearing Orange away -or at least have an Orange third strip. never said fcuk all about fluorecense mind you. Nor augmenting it with black, white and green stripey bits!!! Christ was Helen Keller or my buddy Stevie Wonder designed it?
