Oh that's easy, because it was a clear cut penalty.
But if the conspiracy was true he would not have given it .......

You'd think rovers fans would be gracious enough in victory to admit that it was a stonewall peno. But no they're still sure Alan Kelly - one of the best refs in the league - is out to get them. They have no class
Kelly isn't out to get us per se, he's just crap. From where I was last night, directly in line on the opposite side, it wasn't a penalty. Saw it today from the tv side, and I still don't think it was a penalty. So when it was missed, it was very much a case of "justice was done" in my eyes.

Come off it, mypost. In all non-wumming seriousness, it was a definite pen. He needlessly jumped on top of Crowe with the ball nowhere near him. It was basically the same offence for which Oman was (rightly) penalised before Amond's goal. I thought Alan Kelly had a very good game but let a couple of very late tackles and instances of people kicking the ball away go without yellow cards.

It was a peno. No question. The awarding of it, I mean; not the execution of it.

Thousands of fans run on to the pitch after the All Ireland Finals even though they were repeatedly advised weeks in advance same was no longer allowed.
Kilkenny win the Hurling and their fans run on, stewards attempt to stop them, scuffles ensue with some stewards going to Hospital afterwards and fans claiming assault by stewards.
The whole issue was glossed over by the press - indeed with most coming out in support of the fans.
We all know of how often GAA games degenerate into on pitch battles and referees being attacked yet one person throws a bottle (I am not condoning it) at a football match and the world is about to end!!
That's it so drawing form that logic one more fight outside a chipper or nightclub everyone suffers the consequences and all of the poeple that go to them are scumbags and lets close them all - sure thats the way to go.
Double standards anyone in Irish press anyone??????? (Dont even get me started on Rugy - THe Gentlemans Game (sic) )
BTW I am a Bit O Red Supporter.

It was a definite peno. Crowe played for it but Sully should have done better.

He got a one match ban for two yellow cards - the regular suspension. No further censure was given re: refusing to leave the pitch and reportedly striking a steward.
Given that the FAI has seemingly done nothing on the matter, it was reported in the local press that the only avenue was to lodge a complaint with the guards.
the steward incident was covered up by the fai so sullivan wouldnt miss the rest of the season he only got second game for not leaving the pitch ,they will have to hit him hard with a long suspension now :D

It was a definite peno and Kelly was right to send Sullivan off. The idiot put a clenched fist right into Kelly's face after Byrne missed and was mouthing constantly. Overall I thought Kelly reffed the game very well, let the game flow, wasn't fussy and didn't try to be the centre of attention.

Listen I was right beside the barriers. The "kids" (late teens) knocked the barriers down (those barriers are sh1t too you'd want to get something a bit sturdier). The people that were hit and those around them were insensed and ran them upon which half your crowd ran away as if anything was going to happen them. Then the stewards came in and threw a few digs, having done nothing to your lot who started the whole thing, and got a few back. The fact that there were people wearing colours involved who would generally never be involved in anything says it all about the nature of the incident.
You might want to re-read that post. Not suggesting you're thuggish, but that post sounds pretty thuggish.
As for the bottling incident on Friday (no, not Byrne's penalty), that was pure scum, but the act of one individual piece of scum. Much as I hate Rovers (and 20 other clubs), I wouldn't blame the club for that. The bottler (again not Jason Byrne) should be banned, the club should get a fine (justice must be seen to be done), but anything further would be unfair. It'd be impossible for any club to guarantee that wouldn't happen. Punters are allowed to have bottles of Coke and any club could have a yob capable of chucking one.
Rovers 'element' seems, in my opinion, to have lessened in recent years. Maybe I'm wrong. I know the Blues have had one or two Burberries turn up over the years. They don't go to the Tuesday night games against Longford, but make it out for special occasions. We've banned anyone who ever acted up. Fortunately at the RSC you'd need to be an Olympic-standard tosser to reach the linesman with a bottle from the stands.

IMO men in their 30s are middle aged.
Surely that's the most outrageously controversial statement in the history of foot.ie  Ban this guy and kick Sligo out of the FAI Cup.

Its your interpretation thats the problem. If you think that reads "thuggish" then you're over sensitive. I simply reported what happened and without dredging out all the facts again I will simply say that some Bohs fans re-acted to an incident that came to nothing really. Most people will react when they are attacked.

Not trying to cause a row. It just sounds a bit Green Street - Bohs fans "ran them", Sligo fans "ran away as if anything was going to happen them", stewards threw a few digs and got a few back. Doesn't sound like family fun. By the sounds of the incident (or at least how it's been related), both sides were out order.

the way sullivan got sent off at the end the other night reminded me of his last game for us in the cup final when strangely enough in the last few mins he got sent off too and was watchin the rest of the match behind the barriers.. hes a liablitity to have even though hes a good footballer.

Bohs fans "ran them" - The sligo fans that knocked over the barriers were ran back over their own side.
Sligo fans "ran away as if anything was going to happen them" - Loads of Sligo fans that weren't involved took to their heels when they had in fact nothing to fear.
stewards threw a few digs and got a few back - Well maybe both sides were out of order but its hardly unexpected if you lay into a group of fans who've a few jars on them that they aren't going to pat the stewards on the back.
I travel to most away games and there is very rarely any trouble. That which has occured over the last few years has usually involved Sligo stewards so I'd suggest there is some sort of problem at that end of things.

There were like 50 kids that scattered cause the gaurds started sprinting over into the middle of it.

He probably got off lightly compared to alot that went on that day. I watched it from the paddock under the main stand. It started before kick off and continued until half time.

Wouldnt pass any heed on the opinion of a man who admits not going to matches and has his mind made up on the league already...in any league a top of the table game with so much at stake can turn out to be poor matches due to the tension etc..to make a generalisation on our league after watching one game on TV is just poor lazy journalism...ive been highly entertained at many matches this season and have seen plenty of good football played and we are currently 2ND bottom of the table!!

Age is fairly relevant in all fairness.
A few kids acting the big man and then the response by grown men was totally disproportional.

The funny thing is im actually not inherently anti-Bohs, you can see from other threads ive actually stated I would rather see Bohs win the league.
