one loss in 16 away from home this season for Waterford....

I'd sooner be away to Fingal....

what dates are they on?

Would have been tough to call regardless of the combinations I think. If a gun was put to my head I'd go for a Sligo-Fingal final although Waterford are flying and Fingal might just not turn up on the day. Wouldn't begrudge Sligo a cup final victory though.

Not unhappy with that draw. :)

Some bags under Gormley's eyes, though!

Have to be happy enough with a home draw from a financial point of view as well.

K/O times 7:35 for Rovers vs Waterford and 4.05 (I think) for Fingal vs Bray.

Why did GU wear that atrocious 3rd strip at home? Another kit clash?

WoodquayBoy
21/09/2009, 7:30 PM
Yup, another kit clash, hence the 'home' shorts and socks' but 'third' jersey. Looks like a Sligo Franchise final - I presume both games are being televised?

Yeah, they're both on RTÉ.

St.Pats have a big game this weekend against St.Pats....

Common sense would dictate that the game with two teams from opposite ends of the country would be on the day when fewest people are in work until two and a half hours before kick off, while the game between the two teams who are within the same connurbation could probably be managed on the other day.

This being run by the FAI by any chance?

Good auld Connor - didnt see the incident.

superfrank
21/09/2009, 7:37 PM
Can't believe that idiot Connor. Who does he thinks he's fooling saying Collins backed into Heary?

Also, why wasn't the Bohs player who knocked Collins over afterwards booked, at least?

Flume
21/09/2009, 7:38 PM
Connor has to feel like a fool tonight after seeing Collins' stupidity!Definite sending off. Bohs' second was excellent.

Don't think he(Shelley I think it was) meant to push him over, he fell over Heary.

Connor made a fool of himself alright.

I dunno, Pats are not playing well at the moment, and if Pats score early against them, they have a good chance of taking the points. However, it will depend on which Pats team turns up.

Rico is commentating on the game, I hear.

Pats have a good record at home in Richmond but on the other hand their away record at Richmond leaves a lot to be desired. Sure to be a game of two halves.

Dillonman

Rogers was awful for both of Waterfords' Goals.

For Waterfords second goal, who was the waterford player who fell over the ball on the line without knocking it in, leaving the other Waterford man to knock it in! What was going on there?!:D

Dillonman

Don't think he(Shelley I think it was) meant to push him over, he fell over Heary.

Connor made a fool of himself alright.

Shelley did mean to push him in retaliation, he turned at Collins as soon as Collins "mauled" Heary and Shelley subsequently nudged Collins who subsequently fell over Heary!

That was Grantie.
In fairness, WJK was in need of a couple of goals to get his confidence back after a wee bit of a dry spell, so it was actually an act of astonishing selflessness on Stevie's part.

Astounding insight from Morley that "most great partnerships are formed with somebody else." Hard to argue with that alright.

Is that actually what he meant, or is there something else he was trying to say?

Longfordian
21/09/2009, 8:41 PM
It was a general point he was trying to make about the people in a partnership being equally important I think, in this case Twigg/Baker for Rovers. I think he maybe meant to say all great partnerships but who knows?.

Great draw for Fingal as for Waterford I reckon Hendo will be disappointed with the draw, although he'd take a draw up there!

Don't worry, we'll fill the Showgrounds on our own.

Agreed. But they must be favourites now.

Why must they be favourites ? Because there at home or because they are playing against Bray or even both ?

I don't think they hold any fear for us, yes it will be a tough game and they will be given the respect they deserve but it is a winnable game for us, much more winnable than if we had drawn say Sligo away.

It's a Dublin game for us so no long travel for us, this will keep the players focused. We have kept our best preformances for away games this season - Wins in both Dalymount and Tallaght.

Think the FAI had problems in the past with both home teams wanting to play on the Friday rather that the Sunday thats why the first tie drawn out is on the Friday.
I think it's time the semi finals were played on a neutral venue. Home advantage is too important especially when a team has to travel a long distance it's not fair on their fans.

Sheridan

Jesus, Bray Head, clubs have few enough marquee fixtures to promote as it is without taking one away, throw them a bone here. Sligo vs. Waterford and Fingal vs. Bray in neutral venues would be financially disastrous for the hosts and the competing teams.

How about the one that "the buck stops with everyone", a bit odd I thought
