i once edited the game and sent andy cole to ramblers, while playing the game i forgot, and when i was 5 seasons into the game i saw ramblers in europe and checked it out, and he was still there, and btw i set his wage at 100,000 a week:D

Fear of drawing a Welsh or Andorran team in Europe I would imagine...

I kept the 03/04 version going until a few months ago, I love it when you end up in a weird parallel universe after about 6 years on the same game, everything is just all a little different.

Cork City - 10 league wins in 12 seasons. UEFA Cup in second season. The Champions League after around 10 years.

Also, with Barcelona on the 03/04 version, won 18 leagues in 22 seasons, 7 Champions League including 3 on the trot, and more cups than you can shake a winner's medal at. Once managed a 62-game season unbeaten in all competitions whilst winning the treble. Real Madrid got relegated on my watch, after going bankrupt trying to keep up with me!

Most incredible, however - John O'Shea won World Player of the Year one year.

HOWEVER - I can't fupping prove any of this. Game was destroyed whilst moving house, so my word is all I can give! '09 version just ain't the same.

Did anybody else see the thread title and think it was about bedding members of the opposite sex by impressing them with your FM prowess?

Then I saw 12 replies and thought, nah.

I mean how many guys go up to some fine thing in a hotel bar and say "Hey baby, I brought Wrexham to the premiership in Football Manager" and are immediately given a room number and a suggestive look?

Best I ever got with LOI teams was on CM4.

I got Rovers to beat FC Haka in the UEFA Cup qualifying rounds, think it went downhill from there. I got Derry City through the Intertoto Cup too but got hammered in the UEFA.

My greatest accomplishment was probably winning La Liga with Ferrol. After two successive promotions I narrowly missed out on Europe in our first season in the top flight (1 place shy in the league, and beaten in the cup semi's). Then the next year I shockingly won the league, with possibly the lowest points tally of any league champions ever. I was delighted towards the end of the season when it looked like I'd qualify for the champions league, then Real and Barca both collapsed terribly in the run in. Unfortunately, the laptop with that season on it passed away :(

Other than that, winning promotion from the Liga Do Honra with Vizela on a shoe-string budget was something I was happy with. Winning the UEFA Cup with Hibs and the World Cup with Uruguay also deserve mentions!

My most forgetful act was taking a decent Everton side into the drop-zone before leaving for a post in Ireland.. much like Roddy Collins, I've never been relegated :D
