Draw a reasonably fair result in Wexford tonight with both goals in the second half. Wexford started 4-4-2 with Gary and Jimmy Keohane up front and Richie and Sinny in the wide positions. Gareth McCurtain played right full and looked much more comfortable there than on the left. Youths started brightly and created a few half-chances with the best falling to Gary who couldn't keep a header from a Jimmy K. cross down. First half petered out and finished nil-nil with Longford not doing much.

Second half was better and both sides had chances before Gary scored with 15 minutes to go when Jimmy K. turned his man and got a great volley away which the Longford keeper pushed out to Gary who fly-volleyed it halfway up the net. LOngford equaliser came a few minutes later when a Youths Defender mis-headed a long ball backwards leaving the Longford attacker to run on and beat Packie comfortably. About 550 at the match.
Gareth also worked a dodgy-looking Longford keeper in the second half when he ran from his own half but overall we didn't work him enough.

Was there many from Longford at it?

Keen, might be wrong but couldn't see anyone react when Longford got the equaliser. Your goalscorer was very lively and McCarthy and a big second-half Longford sub. threatened from the set-pieces.

I didn't see anyone from Longford either, possibly could've been someone in the wine bar.

Thanks for that, Optimist. I was in the stand and there was nobody ready to give us a few bars of "Take me Home, Strokestown Road" when the equaliser went in.
Another point which struck me was that the shape of our team improved when Sinny went into the middle and Shane switched to the right midway through the first half. Robert Vickers was given a tough job when he came on on the left as a natural right-footer. Don't think it does these young lads any favours when playing on the wrong side with Nobby and David Miller having suffered there before.

It was a pity that the Bray match was on during last week as i would have being in Wexford last night but I had to decide which match to go to and the Bray game won.. Until next season..

I was in the far end of stand, i reacted but nobody else around me did, quite surreal to be honest. counted 8 of us there but we were scattered all over the ground.
