"heard" his no 2 is already picked will manage us till the end of the season. And kenny will have the same budget as kenna/Sadlier had ie 1.2 million.

not sure on that as we actually made money this year and with no Europe next season we wont make it.

Rumour/conjecture/hearsay etc:

Mo is A team manager and Cyril Walsh was his assitant tonight. not sure if Carroll was even there.

Your guess is as good as mine tbh. I like Carroll knows his stuff but he has an issue with Angry who i also "heard" is in the running for the managers job.

Pats will have to tighten the purse strings next year, their crowds are woefull,so they could do a lot worse than take Gormo and Osam back into the fold and develope the younger sides .

People pay to be entertained, trust me there has been a lack of that this season other than the Euro games. Like anyone thats successful or living off a novelty factor fans will go to games. We have had them before, we are a weird exception we actually do have fans they just choose not to go. Would not argue with anyone who says " not paying to watch that ****e".

We have a very very good squad imo better than Bohs or Rovers, 5 off tonights starting 11 won a league, yet we close to being relegated

Granted all but 2 are out off contract but in this league a decent manager could put together a very good team for buttons next season. And if we have 1.2 million of those buttons imo thats 500k more than whats needed.

No real suprise hear to be honest, the loss to Waterford was the nail in the coffin in affect. WIll be interesting to see who will get the job at Pats now. Sadlier would want to a appoint a strong charcter of a manager if they want to ensure premier league survival.

Pats do seem to struggle with crowds more than the other 'big' Dublin clubs to be fair, and always have (in recent memory anyway).

There is no way Pats have a better squad than Bohs, and most probably not better than Rovers either. That said, you should be doing better than you have been.

We have sold out 3 Euro games with no away support thats 3000 pats fans (imo we have 4500 max getting them back is a different story)

That 11/12 is better than any team Bohs or Rovers can put out BASED ON PREVIOUS FORM (like with other clubs :D) !!!!!!!!

Thats a ****ing cracking team, yet we are 4th from bottom staring relegation in the face. They are all well paid players too some get more than Bohs and Rovers players but their players are actually playing for their manager/club.

Bohs have thee best first 11 in the country bar none.Pats are a good bit off.Why are Pats fans so worried about relegation??3 Pats fans in front of me coming out of Terryland tonight were trying to calculate how many points they will need to stay up and they seemed worried. They were poor tonight and have been of late but they will still up.

What do you mean by previous form ? George Best used to be a cracking player, but I wouldn't put him min a starting XI these days.

Murphy is a better keeper than Rogers, so even before yoyu get past the No. 1 shirt your team is paling in comparison.

Your front two is the weakest of the 3 teams - as shown by the fact you've scored less goals than anyone else. Jason Byrne has bagged 17 goals this season. Your 10 out-field playesr have only managed 4 more than that combined.

And you've got the 3rd worst defensive record in the league.

I rest my case.

I would also be very surprised to see them go down (especially now that Farrelly Light is gone), but they're only seven points ahead of Bray, who have a game in hand and who have still to play them at the Carlisle Grounds. It's very unlikely that they will go down, but it's not impossible.

Our sqad is nowhere near as good as Bohs, they have the best squad in the league by a distance, Rovers on the other hand i believe we have just as good as squad as them the only diffference is they have a striker who wants to play and tries hard to get his goals (Twigg) and we have one who walks around with his head up his arse and cant wait to get out of the club, well Mr Quigley your contract is neary up so yu can **** off then:mad:

You can only start out in a league at whatever the bottom level happens to be at the time.

I never said 'relegated' the fact still remains only 3 (Bohs Pats Cork City) of the current 22 never spent time in Div 1

It does no such thing. Pats and Kenny have had talks in recent weeks on him taking over at Pats. Get over it!

Kenny also had discussions with Rovers prior to MON`s appointment. Kenny said he would take the job if offered, Rovers told him he could submit his application and be interviewed like every other candidate! Kenny wouldn`t risk applying and not getting the job, so he stayed with Derry for one last fruitless season.

Interested in the view of Galway and Pats people on Rodgers or Ryan??? Who got the better deal...

Galway did, but I've never rated either of them. Rogers has improved a lot in the last third of the season, he was a liability previously.

Errm, didn't Kildare go down to the 'A' Championship? Maybe that was over licensing. If you ask me the others have been playing with fire when it comes to the financial stuff -I don't see why Cork weren't relegated just like Shels were (they probably got their licence in the nick of time).

I wouldn't be boasting about the others never being relegated as there's one thing you're omitting -THEY'VE NEVER BEEN PROMOTED!!!!! :D

if the Pats players are so good (better than Bohs/Rovers) the manager would not make that much of a difference. The simple fact is they are not as good. That is why Bohs and Rovers are battling to WIN the League and Pats are battling to STAY IN the League.

Source?

Strong rumours from Inchicore about Stephen Kenny joining Pats from start of next season.
I would not be surprised to see a tempory appointment made until the end of this season to facilitate this arrangement. Pure speculation but if Jeff Kenna heard any such rumour it may have influenced his "back me or sack me" stance when he met with the board.
presumably if things do not work out at Pats then SK can made another prodical son return to Derry ;)

It is possible that Kenny could be looking for a new challenge as he seems to have taken Derry as far as he can with regard to the league but if the story that he is leaving because he is not happy about the cuts at DCFC are true then is Pat's the best choice? They are not in Europe next year and already made cuts to their playing budget this year and having not qualified for the Europa League next year the budget could be cut further.
In all this speculation of possible managers the one that hasn't been mentioned managed the team that knocked Pats out of the cup and thats Stephen Henderson. Young manager, has built two teams capable of challenging for the 1st Division title. I think he's worth a punt by an established Premier Division club (depending on promotion/relegation of course).

St Patrick’s Athletic would like to announce the appointment of Pete Mahon as manager of the first-team for the remainder of the 2009 season.

Maurice O'Driscoll will continue in his role as caretaker manager for this evening’s Setanta Sports Cup fixture against Derry City.

Pete will begin in his new role from tomorrow.

“I’m delighted to have a man of Pete’s experience in charge of the team at this point in the season.

Hopefully he can make an immediate impact, beginning with this Friday’s game at home against Cork City”, said the club’s CEO, Richard Sadlier.Bit of a ropey appointment if you ask me. There's no way adults will put up with his "man management" style and tactically he's a bit clueless.

Which is how he did so well with us. Nearly saved us from relegation, got promoted with a record points tally, League Cup Final, FAI Cup semi, league Cup semi, top half of the league, all on the smallest budget in the Premier. Obviously a tactical dunce.

Best of luck to him. Interesting to see how he gets on.
