I read an interview with John Courtney about umbro Ireland. He mentions that the next Ireland kit will have the tailored style like Man Citeh and Ingerland. I made a mock up based on the Man City Kit. I think a tailored kit would look great if it didn't have eircom plastered on the front. If they had any sense they should release a special World Cup edition like what the IRFU did for Ireland 2 years ago. Obviously they need to qualify first but i've no doubt that they will.... :o

The simpler the shirt the better - that one looks cool no doubt it will be ruined by a big orange eircom Logo.

That top is ruined by the fancy new age badge...bring back the 80s/90s FAI badge!!!

I love your no frills design CF and I'd be especially interested in a long sleeve version with white cuffs.

But the number crunchers in the FAI are going to tell you your design lacks the neccessary dynamism (go-faster stripes), intricasy (fannying around with pattern and colour) and "street nous" (chavtasticness) to persuade enough scobes to forego their chelsea/manu 3rd strips in favour of their own country.

Good mock-up. I reckon that's what its pretty much going to look like. I really hate the new FAI logo though, its not going to work with an old school design like that.

Agreed, I refuse to buy an Ireland shirt because of that (any) daft corporate logo. Are the FAI the only association that have agreed to this ridiculous sponsorship deal?

They did something similar with the Norn Iron '82 away shirt which looked prittty, prittttty good. Obviously they wouldn't recreate the three stripes. Though that has never stopped O'Neills.

For colour and pure madness, you couldnt beat the orange worn, as worn in Macedonia.

The thread is primarily about a new Ireland home shirt, perhaps change the title, but it doesn't need to be closed. What a bunch of superstitious old ninnies. :D No to the eircom sponsor on the shirt!

Guilty!

But the accusation of arrogant could also be made. We think the Englidsh are arrogant the way they go on about the WC. In my opinion they have more chance of winning the WC as we have of just qualifying for it and there are several threads running about us being in the WC.

That's true enough, so change the thread title to 'Possible New Ireland Kit', drop the references to the WC and we're all happy (did I mention no corporate logo on the new shirt?).

In fairness, nothing much about the WC in this thread. And Umbro will bring out a new kit regardless of whether we qualify or not anyway.

There is no evidence that ****e talking on forums has any impact on the realities on the pitch. Thanks be to god as some of the formations over the years on this forum would have us at San Marino level, oh **** we were at that level under Staunton. :)

Looks a bit old fashioned, never going to win over the kids with a shirt like that and the ireland jersey is worn precious little as it is.

Take Nigeria's for example, I'd like to see something like that, stripes, colour contrasts etc. Something that doesn't look like it belongs in the 1950's

At the end of the day it's not going to make one iota of difference to Umbro's design and marketing team if we're in the World Cup or not whether they're launching a new home kit.

No matter what retro style they choose, it's not going to be as bad as the current home kit.

A variation of this should be our home shirt when Stephen Irlande Nil Points rejoins the national team, grandma 1 on the front, grandma 2 on the back. Both in the likeness of the immaculate virgin, Stephen.

I seem to remember 3 years ago at Germany 2006, FIFA being very heavy handed in clamping down on "ambush advertising" by any companies who were not official sponsors. Didn't a load of Holland supporters have to watch a match trouserless because they tried to get into the ground wearing lederhosen bearing the name of a non-sponsor Dutch brewery?

I can envisage us watching Ireland topless in South Africa next year because our Eircom logoed shirts are confiscated. Not so funny on a cold winter's evening there. I'd like to think the FAI bear this in mind when selling the new 2010 shirt, but I very much doubt it.

Wouldn't happen. If the fans don't have the option to buy sponsor free shirts they cannot be removed.

Plenty of places online TP. Try Toffs or to compare prices just google Replica Ireland Jersey 1960's.

I've had one for over a decade and it's still going strong. The greater miracle is it still fits!
