thecorner,
You're not going to be able to stir up any antagonism toward McGrath among the vast majority of City fans. While we're all happy to have a go at Rennie, there's a history with him.
It's different with McGrath, I don't have a single bad memory of him in an Ireland shirt, if anything it's quite the opposite. He's a legend, and he's recently come through some really hard times, the thought of having a go at him turns my stomach to be honest.

just because someone doesn't agree with you thecorner, it doesn't mean they lie at the polar opposite position to your own. obviously no-one is suggesting the above, and it's pretty childish to try and discount someone else's position in this way.
McGrath deserves the respect of the Irish football public, it doesn't mean we lay down for waterford, it just means we don't resort to calling him a "homeless alco".

so what if "we are talking about paul mcgrath
just imagine, say for instance michel platini(i know its highly unlikely) had taken over instead of paul.i guarentee on match day
if he was announced to the crowd at the x(just an example/could be anywhere)he would get a rousing reception from the crowd, and then when he had left the field, the supporters would then verbally rip into each other.
maybe there is something missing here but my gut feeling is that this is how this kind of thing should be handled.i mean booing somebody of this kind of stature is akin to booing/whistling when national anthems are getting played.
its not stopping you ripping into the waterford boys at all,its just saying, hold on for a minute this guy was probably our best ever defender if not player on the international stage:)

Theres nobody saying that and u know it.
All people are saying is a polite round of applause before KO for McGrath and then let the plethora of hate be unleashed upon Danny Boy and King RAT.
And beat them all the way back to Waaaaherfurd.
Does this sound like a compromise ?

if that is the case,we should also clap and applaud ollie cahill whenever he returns
after all he has done a lot more for city than paul mcgrath has

Ollie deserves a bollicking because he slagged the fans off for months and then buggered off to Shels following the cash.
McGrath represented Ireland brilliantly for a decade and gave us all the gift of the Italy game in USA94 when he kept them at bay and we puffed our chests out at home, proud of a truly World Class player.
Yeah your right thecorner, it's the same thing
Boo! and scream "homeless alco" to your hearts content boy, you're on your own.

I have being in Section O a lot longer than you. So who do you think you are being the voice of Section O? The voices of Section O are myself,Macy, Sorbo, Pauro 7 and Massop 10.
Easy Marty, below the belt comment.... Xlex is as much part of Section O as anyone else, and certainly more so than one in particular on that list who seems to go over the stand as much as in section O

I know a lot of the above names would support me in my assessment of Reynolds. I am not under your command Xlex. As you said in a earlier thread you could not go to home matches so I would appreciate a bit of respect off you.
Actually, I think Reynolds is a c*nt. However, I also agree with Xlex that Cork got what they deserved.

My relationship with other supporters has nothing to do with this comment . So what if I have friends from other clubs, there is nothing wrong with that is there?
Fook it, if I get stick about Pats, you deserve all you get about Cork, you l@nger jockey... :)

come on the corner we know your just winding us up here.
is there a single other person on foot. ie that would be willing
to stand beside the corner and join him in his chanting.
i would have my doubts and say you would struggle to get a
handfull of people that would do it.(irrespective of who you support)
so is there anybody else that would be willing to shout abuse
at paul mc grath?????.
i think this is a very serious issue thats gone way past a joke

I have in the past, when he came back to Old Trafford... Immense respect for him as footballer (not necessarily as a person), but all's fair in love and football...

in fairness i think this situation is a bit different in that paul is now retired from playing the game .what we are talking about here is a basic common decency that should be accorded to the guy.
nobody for a minute is saying the guy is a saint(though he used to be
:D )
i just think it would be a step in the wrong direction to go along
the route suggested by the thread starter.

Hopefully there aren't any idiots like him in the X when Waterford visit. And if there are, I guess we'll just have to sing louder than them.

Come off it. It's not like he's going to be on the pitch. If he was, then different story.
I'm not advocating that we sing songs about how great Paul is, but instead we just ignore him and focus on the Rat and cheering CCFC.
The guy has been through a damn hard time, so why abuse him as he tries to get back up on his feet? He's served Ireland well and doesn't deserve abuse.
