Amongst other things
Does anyone know if the draconian "anti flag" measures may be relaxed for the Italy game?

We'll need flags. Atmosophere should be good, even though it has been poor ever since we've been playing in Croker.

I posted this elsewhere yesterday but now the discussion has started I'll repeat it.
I was just saying to a few mates over the weekend that highlights from the Ireland-Italy game from Giants Stadium should be running on the big screen before the game and then 5 minutes before kick-off bring Ray Houghton and Paul McGrath onto the pitch to stir up the crowd.
I think people would respond better to that than a few songs played by a crap PA announcer. Unfortunately we'll always struggle with the fact that the genuine support is about 35,000 while the other 45,000 who will be there are event junkies who want to be entertained rather than participate.

Too true.
Did anyone see the Northern Irish support at Windsor on Wednesday? Can you imagine the reaction if lost at home to a weak side and were knocked out with 2 games left? There's a change of mentality and a lot of perspective needed by the 'support' down here.
We're also 'not Brazil' although you wouldn't think it from the way most of the home crowd go on.:(
As mentioned flares are banned, I presume that covers smoke bombs too? Things like that look class when you score/win.

That was our ninth game, we only have one left. Slovakia are hardly a weak side- they are five points clear in the group and have already won away in Prague.
Not as good as last time admittedly, we were still in with a nominal chance at half time in the last game (of 12).

Are flags permitted then.I have an 8ft x 5ft flag to put up even though I'm not sure where I will be in the ground. Its a flag I don't want to lose either. So will I be allowed hang it and then go to my seat?

Just give it to AidoM......he's in charge of hanging ALL flags both Home and Away;)

I wouldnt trust that lot one iota. We have had so much trouble with them over flags since we moved there. If you do hang it up, make sure it isnt too far away from you because they might remove it during the game and you will never see it again.
Flags with irish club names on them seem to be a big no-no.
We havent had any bother with hanging flags in croke park this last few games. i seen some removed, but they were obstructing the view of people below, so i'd just be more aware of where you are putting them.
with a near/full capacity crowd, the number of spots to hang flags will be reduced.

Cheers. Well I plan to take it and have it hung over one of the upper stands along with the rest. We need all the atmosphere we can generate. I'll get in early and see where I can put it.

IIRC it was limited to highlights of the match being played, per the FAI LoI Fans Forum when someone asked why MNS goal of the month couldn't be shown on the big screen.

Think the fai will do a giant jersey, not sure if it will be ready for Italy. Hopefully. Big demand for tickets for this game, let's hope there will be a decent atmosphere

The only way you'll get a good atmosphere all round the ground, is If you hand out free shots of absinthe on the way in.....
It's just that modern soccer (& the crowds) in massive stadiums is not designed or inclined towards this. So respect to 'The Singing Section';my section (for the middle-aged & past-it) doesn't help but too many armchair fans in the ground.

I wondered why you chose Wormwood Scrubs as a home ground for the Sunday league side...
