From rte.ie
Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapatonni has allowed senior players Shay Given, Richard Dunne, Robbie Keane and Kevin Kilbane to return to their clubs rather than remaining with the squad for Tuesday's friendly against South Africa at Thomond Park.
In addition, Stephen Hunt has returned home for personal reasons.
The only player called up to the squad is Celtic defender Darren O'Dea who recently moved to Reading on a six-month loan.
what a joke

Though we'll probably have advertising...
Anyway, I don't think it's a joke. We need to try out the likes of Keogh-Doyle partnerships and the best way to ensure we do is to leave us with no other option.
We need to try out Westwood, and Shay Given being there would have told us nothing. Similarly, the other players.

I fail to see how it can be classed as a joke. The players have enough of a schedule as it is, are very experienced internationals and now other players have an oportunity to sample the big time.
I have no problem with that at all.
Will Leo be strutting his stuff at Thomond again?

Not surprised at all with the squad for Tuesdays game. Other players need to be looked at and a friendly is a place to do it. The first team werent bothered for the Australia game so maybe the lads on the fringes will give it a right good go and make a game of it this time round.

I was inside. There was a Limerick FC stall, and Leo was greeting people at the gate. Collopy took part in a type of shoot-out at half time. Brays rep won.

I was sitting beside the 'South Africans' that the newspapers mentioned when talking about the crowd and atmosphere.
They were from Cameroon :p And supporting Ireland. Newspaper's judging them by their colour  (and not the tricolour's they were waving :D)
