We have a quote book here at work and its dominated entirely by two colleagues in the office but some of the stuff in there is priceless and well worth recording. Our Pollution team had one for years and on the leaving of a member of staff they had the collection published and bound which was a nice present.

A colleague of mine here was asking for the waste details for a commercial premises in the city yesterday. She went outside and looked at the bin and said 'Apply Brakes' I've never heard of them before. They must be new to the waste trade. I'll not let her forget that one. Naturally its in the quote book.

So if you hear any gems then feel free to add them.

During floods in Ireland about 10 years ago which were partly blamed on farmers whose black plastic silage wrapping was blocking drains, it was mentioned on the news that said farmers were holding a rally to protest their innocence. My girlfriend at the time said, "But how will they be able to race their cars if all the roads are flooded?"

Next - on the night of my 21st birthday, all my housemates and I were sitting round sipping sophisticated Dutch Gold. A friend and I were reminiscing about the night of my 20th birthday, and one of the girls in the house, who hadn't been there that night, asked, "When was your 20th birthday?"
